Donation will benefit cardiovascular research close to home

Milwaukee – Aurora Health Care Foundation today announced a $1 million contribution from Tim and Vivian Sullivan of Milwaukee to help support cardiovascular research and fellowship programs at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center.

“Aurora Health Care Foundation is grateful for the generous gift from Tim and Vivian Sullivan that will allow us to help build upon our nationally recognized cardiovascular research programs,” said Nick Turkal, MD, president and CEO of Aurora Health Care. “The Sullivan’s donation will also help us further expand the work being done through our cardiac fellowship program at Aurora St. Luke’s, transforming it into one of the premier programs of its kind.”

The Sullivan’s $1 million gift is specifically earmarked to support work spearheaded by Tanvir Bajwa, MD, an interventional cardiologist who leads Aurora’s cardiology fellowship program and numerous cardiac research studies.

“Tim and I are so pleased to see the world-class cardiac care and research happening at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center and hope that our gift shines a light on the amazing work being done there,” said Vivian Sullivan. “We are proud to help support Aurora St. Luke’s cutting-edge cardiovascular research initiatives, and are hopeful that this might spur additional support from others in the community.”

To recognize the Sullivan family for their generosity, Aurora Research Institute has initiated a new award program to recognize cardiac fellows, named the Sullivan Cardiac Research Award for Residents and Fellows. In addition, this gift will expand Aurora Health Care’s visiting professor lecture series through Aurora’s cardiology program which will be renamed the Sullivan Visiting Professor Lecture Series.

Since 2010, Tim Sullivan has been a member of the Aurora Health Care Board of Directors. Sullivan is the former president and CEO of Bucyrus International and current CEO of Allied Specialty Vehicles, Inc.
