Jonny Mac Studio
Warriors of the Dystotheque are forged from an alliance of transatlantic low-fi fanatics and leftfield DJ / Producers. Projecting an amalgamation of 60’s garage, broken beat, jazz, downtempo, techno, electronica, noise and psyche,
We have Jonny Mac (Ireland), a professional DJ having spent several years DJ’ing across the globe alongside Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), and also many years alongside Leeroy Thornhill (Prodigy), he also survived 2 tours with Shaun Ryder & Bez from The Happy Mondays. Numerous festival appearances across the world as well as promoting several club nights and warehouse parties for the best part of 14 years in the UK before relocating back home to Ireland and shelving Jonny Mac, starting his new alias as M-Capio a tech house project with numerous releases & several currently signed for this year also forming his band The Warriors of the Dystotheque.
Jonny met Sean (France) at a local record store in the late 90’s in Coventry, their lines then crossed again at a local club where Sean worked, and Jonny DJ’ed & promoted his event Frequency, a successful breakbeat event for several years. This led on to them DJing together and studying music production at the same college by the turn of the millennium. Sean later went on to release music under the pseudonyms SometimesSean and Méli Mélo, and also set up Fly Beat Music – A small, broad minded net label, with support from the likes Laurent Garnier, DJ Zinc, and Stereo MC’s. Completing the line up we have Mike & Nick Rufolo aka The Brothers Nylon from NYC, an experimental funk outfit known for their live broken beat style and collaborations with the living legend Shawn Lee. Mike brings a lo-fi edge to the sound, with his collection of vintage outboard effects and raw percussion whilst multi instrumental Nick’s pretty much the man who can with his time spent at New Yorks State University studying music performance. Recent support on BBC Radios ATL show for the current demo. Below is Jonny Mac’s Studio in Ireland were a lot of the ideas begin before making it across to France & NYC for more Warriors treatment… Peace WoTd
Kelvin Colling Studio
Hi Guys, I produce Tech Trance under the alias Dark Electric and run a small Tech Trance label Electric Releases from Australia. It’s all on my days off from my ‘regular’ job, with my setup based in my one bedroom flat with my girlfriend and my cat (ie. Cosy). Heavily software based, the only real hardware is a monitor station and RTA, but it’s ideal for my needs at the moment. As you can tell, I like an artificially lit environment!
