“We’re delivering eight episodes of awe-inspiring business techniques and know-how that will leave viewers informed and entertained,” said Percy Mthethwa, Executive Producer of Pimp My Bizz and owner of 3RDSTRAND MEDIA. “It is today’s highest media currency; being guided by expert business knowledge whilst being entertained. South Africa has a healthy entrepreneurial culture, but still most businesses fail within the first 3 years, not because they lack funding, but purely because most entrepreneurs don’t have the required business skills to grow sustainable businesses.”

Created and Produced by AUTONOMY DESIGN and 3RDSTRAND MEDIA in association with LearningSims, Pimp My Bizz encourages creative entrepreneurs to take their businesses to the next level by applying effective techniques such as the Business Model Canvas and GrowthWheel, used by business advisors to help client companies make focused and effective decisions and take action around four lasting challenges all businesses face; creating an attractive Business Concept, build a strong Organization behind it, develop lasting Client Relations, and do so while maintaining profitable Operations.

“Kicking off Pimp My Bizz in Newtown is symbolic in a way. The energy, innovation and vitality that were integral to Jozi’s past success, is revived yet again by entrepreneurs determined to make Newtown synonymous with innovative ideas that move business forward,” said Brian Simelane, CEO and Founder of LearningSims. “The exciting bit is experiencing the strength of innovative partnerships formed here by the six Pimp My Bizz creative entrepreneurs, their neighbours and venue sponsor City Lodge Hotel Newtown as an effort to build the economic sustainability of the Newtown Precinct whilst sharing their learning with the nation. It is a story worth telling.”

Anyone will relate to Lauren-Kate, Sibu, Sharon, Mandla, Anita and Neo’s business challenges. Episode 1 serves as an introduction to them and the journey ahead whilst episodes 2 to 7 focus on each individual’s business journey. Episode 8, aptly known as “Pimp My Bizz: Where Are They Now” shares the ups and downs they all faced whilst implementing the techniques Brian Simelane coached during the making of the series.

“Our focus with Pimp My Bizz is on how small creative businesses can capitalise on uniquely South African endeavours and grow successfully while avoiding many common mistakes, said Ingrid Bell, Executive Producer of Pimp My Bizz and Co-owner of AUTONOMY DESIGN. “Pablo Picasso couldn’t have created his masterpiece Les Demoiselles d’ Avignon in 1907, a radical departure from traditional European painting, if it weren’t for the looming presence of Henri Matisse. Competition makes us all better. It is both inspiring and productive. How do we do it? That is fundamentally what Pimp My Bizz coaches; to make unknown business methods accessible to everyone so that we all can benefit from it to build sustainable and competitive businesses.”

SMEZONE, Times Media Group’s all-new provider of educational media for small, medium enterprises ensures that Business Day TV’s expert content is available to entrepreneurs on a platform and at a time that works for them, Saturdays and Sundays when business owners are most likely to tune in.

Pimp My Bizz has been formatted and is produced by AUTONOMY DESIGN and 3RDSTRAND MEDIA in association with LearningSims.
