How an innocent social post can turn a man’s life upside down
Manhattan, New York – July 11, 2016 – Actor Olan Montgomery launched a campaign seeking community support for his short film project, “Rush Call Clown.” It’s a story about a man’s life turning upside down when a celebrity’s social media post portrays the man’s clown self as scary and violent, which sparks a negative spiral for his career as a children’s clown entertainer. The goal is to raise $5,000 by August 3, 2016. Funds received will be used to complete the production of the project and entered into film festivals around the world.
“Rush Call Clown” is a fiction inspired by a real event from Montgomery’s life. He received a ‘rush call’, which means last minute in acting, for a TV role that required him to play a ‘scary’ and intimidating clown. After the shoot, the star of the TV show, his wife, and several crew members wanted to capture some selfies with Montgomery choking them. Thirty minutes later, the star of the show shared the image online with the headline ‘Have sweet dreams tonight’ which garnered thousands of social media engagements. This cyber phenomenon sparked Montgomery’s creative mind to create his dark dram-comedy (combination of drama and comedy).
This movie will be about how a man’s life of being a clown entertainer for children is changed forever in a single moment. One bad decision of when an online post portrays his clown-self as ‘John Wayne Gacey’ and having a ‘clown car full of porn and smokes.’
The story is told through intimate interaction and focus on tiny details.
This is Montgomery’s first project where he wrote, directed, and acted in.
