Gertex Hosiery Inc. is a family-owned manufacturing and distribution company that first began operating in 1958. Back then, the company specialized in value-priced pantyhose, providing retailers across Canada its Miss Canada brand.
With the advent of the dollar store boom of the 1990’s, Gertex capitalized on market opportunity and invested heavily in the production and distribution of socks and tights. As business grew rapidly, Gertex expanded its line to include licensed, private label and in-house brand programs.
At the turn of the century Gertex implemented new and dynamic display marketing solutions for its customers and continued to expand by introducing an array of new programs including hats, gloves, scarves, caps and additional novel apparel accessories such as wrist bands, slippers and underwear. Both sport and character licenses were under the Gertex umbrella, including NHL, NFL, NBA, CFL, Disney, Marvel, Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers, Hasbro, and Mattel.
In 2007 Gertex expanded into the hair accessories industry by opening EyeCandy Accessories Inc. EyeCandy manufactures and distributes a large array of fashion accessories programs including hair accessories, health and beauty products and gift programs.

Over the last decade Gertex, through its subsidiary Gertex USA, has seen exponential growth throughout the United States.
