The Blow @ The Earl
The Blow is an electronic pop duo comprised of Khaela Maricich and Melissa Dyne. The Blow has taken various incarnations over the years: initially begun as a solo project by Maricich, the band was joined for a couple of albums by Jona Bechtolt of YACHT, after which it morphed into its current shape as the collaborative power convergence of Maricich and Dyne. In live performances, Maricich and Dyne work from opposite ends of the room, hugging the audience in between them, with Khaela on the main stage and Melissa on a separate stage at the back of the room. Onlookers stand in the direct path between the performers, encircled and perforated by the call and response of soundwaves, lightbeams and invisible communications between Maricich and Dyne. The shows on the upcoming tour are an open laboratory for experimentation using the elements that each artist has been honing over the years. The artistic styles and strengths of each member of The Blow reflects the different ways in which each one dreams at night. Together they produced a new album, titled The Blow, released on October 1, 2013. The album exists as a physical manifestation of the odyssey of experimentation on which The Blow has embarked, a mass of cells ready to divide and explode into new forms, to mutate with the local populations, to see what else could happen.

The Icarus Account @ Vinyl
The mission that Ty and Trey Turner have set to accomplish as a band is to write songs that would give an audience goosebumps. It was simply about emotion and what moved the boys. They listened to and learned the songs that gave them goosebumps. They are living their dream as professional musicians writing songs that strike an emotional chord with their listeners. In roughly six years as The Icarus Account, they’ve learned a lot about writing and performing, but ultimately the goal has never changed. “We try to write songs that are honest and relatable,” Trey shares. “One of the most beautiful things about writing songs is that it proves how connected all of us really are. We get messages all the time where people tell us that our songs say everything they are feeling but didn’t know how to express. To me it’s really humbling because I’ve never met that person before and yet they are feeling the same feelings that we had when we wrote the song.”

Girl in a Coma @ The Drunken Unicorn
Girl in a Coma formed when best friends Jenn Alva and Phanie Diaz met in Jr-high school art class over a mutual love of the Smiths, Nirvana, and skipping school. All they needed was a singer. Enter Nina Diaz, Phanie’s little sister. Nina blew them away with her mesmerizing vocals, a powerful voice some critics have compared to Bjork, Patsy Cline, and the band’s hero, Morrissey himself. The trio practiced for three years, gigged at local punk rock clubs, played a High School talent show, one kid’s birthday party, and then hit the road, building up a solid and loyal fan base across the country. Girl In A Coma have left a permanent tattoo on the hearts of thousands with their piercing songs and nuclear performances. They’ve blazed a singular trail since Nina Diaz joined the band at age 13 and have found champions and comrades along the way including Joan Jett who signed them, Morrissey, Sia, Tegan and Sara, The Pogues and Amanda Palmer who have hand selected them for tours. In addition, Robert Rodriguez asked them to compose one of the key songs for his film Machete last year. All the while, they have been building one of the most impassioned and diverse fan bases in music.

Kevin Dunbar CD Release Show with Dan Harvey @ Eddie’s Attic
Kevin Dunbar packed his belongings and left New York behind to try for a better life in Georgia. A Ryder truck, a used couch, and a 1985 Pontiac would be his only means to survival. It would be a girl, a girl who would decide that he needed an outlet and that a guitar could be it. She began taking him to concerts and introducing him to music that he would never have listened to on his own. He then took things into his own hands around the year 2005; playing every open mic he could find himself, and meeting a bunch of local musicians, particularly in Kennesaw. Afterwards, he released a five piece record with a few extra songs he had recorded earlier. This helped him build the confidence to continue growing as an artist. Working a pretty demanding nine to five job and still managing to live an active nocturnal life, he eventually made connections in the city, which was his dream playing field. He became active in the buzzing Atlanta independent music life, playing bars and events that would allow him to showcase his original work, which led to him really being taken seriously as a singer song-writer. This eventually afforded him an opportunity to record an album with some of the bigger musical artists of Atlanta. The result is an album called Flaxen Grey (OUT TODAY), and it is nothing short of Kevin’s journey, his many musical shades that cross between day and night, beginning and end, switching between country and folk, acoustic rock, to pop, and old Motown.

MTV Buzzworthy says “Jake Miller is about to blow up! Jake just released a brand-new video and we’re mildly obsessed, to say the least. Jake’s rap flow is serious, and we haven’t even discussed his vocals yet! Unsurprisingly, Jake’s also got a killer set of pipes.” On March 6, 2012, MTV.com did the exclusive music video premiere of Jake’s single “I’m Alright.” Jake went on a Florida radio tour in March, 2012 to promote his single, “What I Wouldn’t Give,” and at one point, it was the only record near the top 50 on the Top 40 charts by a completely independent artist.
