If you’re looking for decorating inspiration or just like the idea of wandering through some beautifully decked out homes, Intown has an array of tours on tap this month.
Home for the Holidays
Formerly known as The Christmas House, the newly rechristened event began in mid-November and continues through Dec. 8. to benefit the Southeastern Horticultural Society. This year’s home is at 58 Blackland Road and is has been decorated by some of the city’s most noted interior designers. The home is open for tours Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes
Decatur’s 31st annual tour is Dec. 6 – 7 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. both nights. This year’s tour has the theme “Take A Walk Down Main Street” and features nine stops in the heart of the city. The event benefits the Mary Miller Decatur Youth Fund, the Decatur Education Foundation and the Wylde Center. Tickets for the Tour of Homes are $20 in advance at decaturtourofhomes.com and $25 at the door. Parking and shuttle information will be available on the website, too.

Peachtree Garden Club Christmas Home Tour
The 2013 tour will feature four distinctive Buckhead homes on Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are two homes on Cherokee Road, including one designed by famed architect Neel Reid, and on Tuxedo Road and Rilman Lake Court. Tickets are $25 in advance at peachtreegardenclub.org or $30 the day of the event.
Grant Park Candlelight Tour of Homes
Victorian mansions and Craftsman cottages are just some of the homes on the 2013 tour of the Grant Park neighborhood. Starting at St. Paul United Methodist Church, the tour will be Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15, from 6 to 10 p.m. both nights. There will also be other family fun happening during the event, including a visit from Santa Clause from 5 to 7 p.m. caroling hayrides from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday. An Artists’ Market and Bake Sale, open both nights, and a Candlelight Christmas Concert on Sunday are also planned. Tour tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 at CandlelightTourOfHomes.com.

Virginia-Highland Tour of Homes
The 19th annual Virginia Highland Tour of Homes is set for Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Dec. 8 from noon to 4 p.m. The tour features seven homes, including a 1920’s Georgian Revival style home transformed for the modern world by award-winning architect Yong Pak, a Craftsman home newly redesigned and fashioned by Reynolds Brown of Stan Topol & Associates, an expertly restored classic bungalow and a contemporary new build with a focus on modern art. A bonus stop at the new Briarcliff Summit, originally the Briarcliff Hotel built by Coca-Cola Founder Asa Candler, will give tour goers a rare opportunity to see inside the historic landmark. Local restaurants will provide food tastings at each of the homes, including Murphy’s, DBA Barbeque, America Roadhouse, The Fifth Group’s La Tavola and El Taco, Rosebud, Timone’s, Marlow’s Tavern and Atkins Park. Over the past five years, the Tour has raised more than $100,000 for the Virginia Highlands Civic Association. Tour tickets are $25 in advance at vahitourofhomes.org or $30 the weekend of the event.
Avondale Estates Tour of Homes & Holiday Market?
Trolleys will be ferrying customers to this year’s stops on the Avondale Estates Tour of Homes and Holiday Market on Dec. 15 from 3 to 8 p.m. (the market is open noon to 6). Pick up the trolley at the Avondale First Baptist Church at the corner of Covington and Stratford Roads. This year’s tour spans 80 years beginning with an Avondale “original” built when the city was established in 1926, a recently renovated 30s bungalow, a renovated 60s ranch-style home, a home built in the 90s on the “newest street” in town and town home built in 2003. Tickets may be purchased for $12 in advance at Avondale City Hall, Finders Keepers Furniture, REAL Salon and Seventeen Steps or for $15 on the day of the tour at the Avondale Community Club.
