This baby blue abode is a newly renovated, modestly sized slice of Cabbagetown history. Pegged at 1,341 square feet, the home comes with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, new hardwoods, a new kitchen and a pretty nifty little loft space. Right around the corner from Cabbagetown Park on Gaskill Avenue, the same listing says that it was built in both 1920 and "before the turn of the century" (presumably the 20th). Seems like the 1920 number is thrown around quite a bit in Cabbagetown — as with this place, and this one too — but there's a reason: Many of the neighborhood's surviving homes were basically rowhouses thrown up around the nearby textile mill, which supported a community of a few thousand workers at its peak. The mill (one of the first of its kind in the South) opened in 1881 and, best that folks can still tell, most of the historic homes in the area were built sometime between then and 1920ish. Anyway, now that you've had your history lesson, how about forking over $275,000?
