Leading young earth creationist Dr. Jonathan Sarfati wrote a Creation.com "exposé" of a popular press publication of old earth creationist Dr. Hugh Ross in which Dr. Ross gives further evidence for his interpretation of Genesis 1 and 2.

Dr. Sarfati's throwaway attack on Dr. Ross for including the praise of a graduate student whom Sarfati claims is allegedly misrepresenting his credentials is contradictory to CMI (inconsistently) claiming that arguments should be taken on their merits. Ironically, CMI extensively boasts about the credentials of scientists associated with its ministry, which is not engaged in actually doing science.

Dr. Ronald L. Numbers wrote a book called ''The Creationists: The Evolution of Scientific Creationism'', which was endorsed by [[Henry Morris]] of the Institute for Creation Research<ref>Dust jacket for ''The Creationists''</ref>:

+

+

{{quote|||For those interested in the background of the modern revival of creationism, whether evolutionists or creationists, this book is a rich mine of information and historical insights.|||Henry M. Morris, Institute for Creation Research}}

+

+

The informal logical fallacy of poisoning the well consists of preemptively offering some negative information about a person (whether true or false) in an effort to discredit him before he is able to make his own argument.

+

+

Despite Morris's recommendation of the book, leading creationist outfit CMI disagrees that Numbers can be taken seriously and claims that Numbers is an apostate a number of times<ref>[http://creation.com/the-skeptics-and-their-churchian-allies-iscast-responds]</ref><ref>[http://creation.com/expose-of-the-genesis-question-by-hugh-ross]</ref><ref>[http://creation.com/compromising-chaplain-castigates-creation]</ref><ref>[http://creation.com/crisis-in-the-colleges]</ref>. Indeed, scripture states that the punishment for apostasy is eternal damnation in hell:

+

+

{{quote|26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. …|||Epistle to the Hebrews 10:26-31}}

+

+

The purpose of referring to Numbers as an apostate is to immediately alert readers of CMI's disagreement with him in a manner calculated to induce them to reject any claims he makes in books CMI then rubbishes, rather than encouraging readers to critically evaluate Numbers' positions on their own.
