V Foundation for Cancer Research is partnering with Medifast to launch special edition Dual Fuel products. Product sales will benefit the V Foundation, which was started by college basketball coach Jim Valvano, who died of cancer. The V Foundation seal will appear on select products. Ten percent of sales will go to the foundation. The products are available for purchase at JimmyV.DualFuelNutrition.com.

San Diego Convention Center Corp., seeks a law firm or individual attorney to act as its general counsel. The general counsel must have broad general expertise and experience in corporate business and contract law, and in public entity, state and local laws regulating meetings of public agencies. Association News:

Steven E. Burke, 61, CFO of the Grable Foundation, was found dead Tuesday in a downtown Pittsburgh alleyway, reports TribLive.com. An autopsy found that Burke died from multiple blunt impact injuries. The manner of death is pending. The Grable Foundation is run by Burke’s family, which founded the Rubbermaid consumer products company. The foundation's offices are just around the corner from the alleyway in which Burke was found dead.

Center for Exhibition Industry Research recently released the 2015 CEIR Exhibition Industry Census, which revealed that the total number of business-to-business and business-to-consumer exhibitions in the U.S., Canada and Mexico is 13,447, accounting for just over 107 million attendees and 1.9 million exhibitors. The Census also lists U.S. states with a five-year performance change and the top 50 cities with a five year percentage change. NAACP and the National Head Start Association have created an initiative to facilitate voter registration, healthcare enrollment and fair housing advocacy at Head Start centers across the country. Head Start centers are located in the poorest neighborhoods where young parents can meet and socialize.

Kellen has acquired Applied Management Professionals, of Kansas City, Mo. AMP serves clients in the medical and healthcare sector. The acquisition of AMP will enhance Kellen’s certification capabilities and enrich the company’s medical sector knowledge. AMP management services VP Dede Gish-Panjada has been named a Kellen VP. Gish-Panjada is a 31-year veteran of the association management practice at AMP. A former president of the AMC Institute, she was awarded the Professional Excellence Award from the Kansas City Society of Association Executives in 2015.

SmithBucklin has acquired SDI, an incentive travel, strategic meetings and special events company. SDI will retain its brand name and operate from SmithBucklin's Chicago office as a wholly owned subsidiary. SDI founder Scott Dillion will continue as president of the subsidiary.

Jim Thompson, CAE, IOM, association management VP at Capitol Hill Management Services of North Carolina, will again participate with his family in the St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser to cure childhood cancers. Jim and his family will be “shavees,” who voluntarily shave their heads in solidarity with children with cancer, who often lose their hair during treatment.
