Cyber Security Solutions: The Basic Problem
The largest issue is that many organizations face when they are seeking a cyber security solution is that they do not understand where they are vulnerable. The main reason for this is the lack of legitimate information about how tools work together and how to secure an entire company. Many larger companies that do understand the entire cyber threat spectrum have turned to Security Event and Incident Managements (SEIMs) to solve this cyber security problem.
The issue with SEIMs is that information gathering is overwhelming and produces a large number of false positives. In addition, to run a SEIM properly, an organization needs at least one big data analyst who understands which rules to run and what data to look for. Therefore, they are not suitable for small to midsized businesses.
Larger organizations have also tried to consolidate information through the use of governance, risk management and compliance (GRC) software. GRC software is made specifically for compliance and is difficult to implement. It also does not leverage the use of other tools without a large integration effort.
Other corporations may create an ad hoc system that is limited to their most used tools, but lacks the ability to rapidly update as new tools emerge and are often not integrated as tightly as our solution.
