Uber has introduced a new category called uberAUTO for hailing auto rickshaws in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
“In line with our vision to provide technology-backed, low-cost smart mobility solutions, uberAUTO has been launched in Bhubaneswar, the city that recently topped the smart city list,” the Uber statement reads.
This is not the first city, Uber has started its auto-rickshaw service in. Last year, the Taxi-aggregator started uberAUTO in New Delhi, but shut down the service seven months later, without disclosing the exact reason.
Other players in the fray include Ola Autos, Jugnoo, mGaadi and Telerickshaw.
uberAUTO’s base fare starts at Rs 15 at Rs 3/km plus Rs 1/minute.
