Role Summary
The Telematics Systems and Vehicle Hardware Requirements Contract Engineer is responsible for eliciting requirements for new or modified features from Subject Matter Experts, then developing them into a format and level of detail suitable for implementation. S/he will also be a Subject Matter Expert him/herself in one or more areas related to Telematics Systems, Vehicle Interface and Hardware Design or similar domains. The Telematics Systems and Vehicle Hardware Requirements Engineer then harmoniously integrates the new requirements into new or existing product definitions. The requirements may be expressed as textual "shall" statements, figures (including flow charts), tables, or a combination thereof. Subjects of the requirements are usually at the leading edge of technology and range from cellular wireless technologies, to location technologies, to the Human-Machine Interface and speech recognition.
The Telematics Systems and Vehicle Hardware Requirements Engineer uses various software applications including common word processing, spreadsheet, and drawing applications, as well as specialized requirements management, change management, and publishing tools.
The Telematics Systems and Vehicle Hardware Requirements Engineer works with the program leads to arrive at a mutually agreeable release date for change proposals and specifications that meet timing, quality and accuracy.
The Telematics Systems Requirements Engineer is responsible and accountable for the quality and cohesion of the requirements and for the timely delivery of specification documents.
S/he is an experienced evidence based problem solver who works with cross-functional team members to arrive at and document robust Telematics requirements in specifications.
