The Role
We are looking for an experienced user experience designer with a speciality in creating engaging user interfaces. The ideal candidate should have a passion for usability, an eye for visual consistency, and a knack for reducing the complex to the bare essentials. Being both analytical and creative is important in this position.
While this position does not need to be a business professional per se, they should at least be business aware and comfortable in discussing the business’s goals and balancing them with strategies to meet the needs of the user.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Collaborate with internal teammates on user experience to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the benefits and value-points to all levels of users
* Ability to articulate ideas, thoughts, and designs to help gain buy-in and build strong team dynamics
* Must be an avid and active listener to the people for whom they are designing a product to understand their needs and goals
* Create consistent and predictable interface layouts for both web and mobile design. Design and contribute to wireframes, prototypes, and navigational elements
* Direct the visual appearance of all new features and enhancements on our software application to ensure ease of use and active engagement
* Initiate, suggest, and spearhead major UI re-factorings for a more intuitive user-experience
* Design elegant solutions to complex workflows. Design things that people will talk about
* Act as the user-advocate during the development process, subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing or expert review, and offering implementation suggestions from a user-centered perspective
* Evaluate the quality of the user experience. Test, analyze and report results, and make recommendations to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and overall satisfaction of the user
* Act as “go to” with in-depth knowledge of user interface best practices and standards. Use research-related services, theories and methods to support your recommendations
* Convert user stories into the opportunities to create the value for both the user and Acclaris
The Requirements
* Strong grasp of the value of UX design to the overall product or software development cycle
* Work extremely well collaboratively; take constructive criticism
* Flexible, creative, energetic, detail oriented and demonstrating a positive attitude
* Basic familiarity with consumer directed health accounts such as flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts and the overall healthcare benefit industry
* Bachelor's Degree in industrial design, engineering, computer science, graphic design, psychology, marketing or a related field.
* 4+ years of experience creating and conducting user research studies and usability tests, and translating results into design recommendations.
* Good understanding and experience and working knowledge of site design, and mastery in principles of Web and application design (HTML, XHTML, CSS, JS). You do not need to be a front end developer, but have ability to work with HTML, CSS.
* Skilled in building interactive prototypes – preferred experience using Axure tool.
Special position requirements include:
* Actively participates in UX, Design and Innovation groups or associations
* Familiar with information architecture, user-centered design, behavior-driven development, user testing, and UX specifications
* Skilled in developing accessible content and features compliant with Americans with Disability Act (ADA) guidelines
* Currently uses online technology and sites today for things like online banking, bill pay, and social media
