Job Description:

This is an opportunity for a career Analytical Chemist who enjoys working in the laboratory, generating quality data, and working as an expert resource for chemistry issues for Ford Motor Company. The candidate will have the opportunity to shape and optimize analytical chemistry testing to fill the needs of the Ford Plant Operations and the Research & Engineering community.

* Environmental Regulatory Testing (with particular emphasis on meeting government air pollution regulations)
* Research
Primary Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities for this position will be the analysis of vehicle tailpipe and interior emissions, battery electric vehicle electrolytes, fuel permeation of polymers, analysis of sealers, resins, and polymers to support materials development and failure analyses. The candidate shall have experience working with and maintaining liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography (GC-FID & GC-MS) instrumentation. The emphasis at Central Laboratory is on teamwork with engineering, research, and laboratory testing functions within Ford Motor Company.

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
* 4+ years of experience as an Analytical Chemist
* 2+ years of experience in Gas Chromatography or Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy or Liquid Chromatography experience
* 2+ years of experience writing technical reports
Preferred Qualifications:

* Career goal to work as an Analytical Chemist in the Laboratory
* Experience developing methods and macros using Agilent and Perkin Elmer Chromatography software
* Experience in Capillary Electrophoresis
* Demonstrated ability to:
* Apply quality assurance/quality control principles
* Design experiments
* Develop new analytical testing methods
* Recommend & implement new instrumentation & techniques
* Maintain Analytical Instrumentation
* Act as a technical resource for chemistry related issues
* Multitask and handle complex technical issues
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
