In General Motors, the Global Telecommunication team provides world class architecture, engineering, deployment, and support for all Wide Area Networks, Local Area Networks, Network Security, Applied Networking, Unified Communication, Voice and Video Systems globally\. General Motors has made a strategic direction to insource the IT services\. As a result of that we are expanding the Global Telecommunication team to achieve General Motors vision to design, build and sell the world’s best vehicles\.
**About the Role:**
The IT Manager over Core Network Delivery will be responsible for delivery of services to application and infrastructure teams in support of all network services provided within the data center, remote hosting center and remote network aggregation point environments in General Motors\. This leader will be accountable to drive delivery of service requests in accordance with SLAs, the assurance of development of service catalogs and service automation regarding cloud delivery of the network services associated\. This leader will need to ensure that his team is driven to delivery and own all service requests, incidents and problem resolution\. Our goal is to deliver the highest level of service delivery and availability and to that end, we are very focused on assuring that we have the strongest engineering standards, processes and automation in place\. This manager will be a key leader in driving the delivery of these capabilities\. Technologies delivered within this organization include but are not limited to Global Load Balancing, Local Load Balancing, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, Data Center LAN and WAN solutions\.
**Major Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ Manage a highly capable team of engineers in the operations, engineering and delivery of data center and application service requests from a network standpoint, including but not limited to load balancing, DNS, DHCP & IPAM \(DDI\), firewall, WAN and Data Center LAN engineering requests
+ GM’s Enterprise Data Centers \(EDCs\) are the heartbeat of the company and provide resilient world class data center capabilities to internal General Motors, OnStar, Dealers, and other external partners, so 100% uptime and focus on operations is a key and integral part to the role\. This position comes with an on\-call rotation both to the team of individuals being managed and a shared on\-call rotation with other key engineering managers\.
+ The successful candidate must be able to operate within tight operational processes, manage to SLAs and KPIs all while leading a team of deeply technical network engineering resources\.
+ The successful candidate will not only understand and manage to SLAs and KPIs, but be process and automation oriented and capable\. We are a quickly evolving team migrating towards a cloud strategy and must analyze our current environment and quickly adapt\. Six sigma or other lean process capabilities along with a high level understanding of automation is desired\.
+ Finally, the successful candidate should be keenly focused on developing their team\. Our people are the heart and soul of what we do every day, and the future of the data center\. We are very serious about growing and grooming our engineers for future opportunities\.
+ Again, the successful candidate will be responsible for participating in an after\-hours rotation and must be able to lead Major and P1 incident bridges no matter what time of day or night they come\.

**Qualifications**
+ This role is both operational and technical
**Data Center Network Engineering**
+ Intermediate understanding of the broad scope of data center network engineering across multiple functions including Load Balancing \(F5\), DDI \(InfoBlox\), Firewall \(CheckPoint/ASA\), LAN \(Cisco Nexus\) and WAN \(Cisco\)\.
+ Intermediate Operational Experience, such as troubleshooting
+ Broad understanding of Data Center technologies such as Storage, Servers, Cabling, Power, Cooling, VMWare, Databases, and Applications
+ Broad and deep understanding of Service Fulfillment lifecycle management and Incident, Problem and Change Management best practices
**ITIL\-F –** this role is very focused on key aspects of the ITIL framework and ensures that these components of operations and service fulfillment are managed tightly within the Global Data Center Network team\.
