POSITION SUMMARY
The R&T Engineer is responsible to support the New Product Development Process as follows: 1. Facilitate and maintain the DFMEA document with robustness linkage tools; 2. Develop the Design Verification and Plan & Report; 3. Execute Design Verification testing; 4. Facilitate Quality Function Deployment development.
Conduct and design experiments and tests to characterize performance, identify potential improvements, and verify these performance improvements if requested. Responsible to define test requirements that demonstrate product reliability for intended uses. Assist in preparing & presenting concept & test proposals to customers. Provide technical testing assistance to group sales engineers, product engineering group, customers, and the manufacturing plants. Functions in support of product development programs with the ability to perform the Key Accountabilities, with limited supervision, while demonstrating strong Key Competencies. Demonstrates characteristics that foster team progress, initiative to take-on challenging assignments and create opportunity where none exists. Work in partnership with Tech Center and Emissions Systems manufacturing locations aligned with Emissions Systems business objectives. Capable of demonstrating strong problem solving and analytical skills, along with potential managerial skills. Accountabilities will include documentation of activities appropriate to the work.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

2. Test Process Development - Responsible for development of the Prototype Control Plan and Build Sheet.
3. Design for Test - Responsible for supporting Product Development activities by suggesting design concepts that aide in robustness of testing and initiate procurement of test fixtures through the use of current purchase order systems.
4. Prototype Development- Responsible for assisting Product Engineering Test Group in the development of test systems for prototype hardware in conjunction with product engineering's responsibility to support the customer. This may include development of data acquisition systems or related new process identification and validation.
5. Lab Support - Provide lab support to insure that proper regulatory elements are contained within the tool set. This would include, but is not limited to, all software elements of MSA.
6. Document Control - Responsible for all aspects of document control as indicated and applicable in the TS-16949 Standard.
7. Responsible to define test requirements that demonstrate product reliability for intended uses.
8. Customer Management - Responsible for support of customer interface activities including phone, electronic and personal communication as necessary to support product development. This would include professional representation of Emissions Systems in all areas of possible customer and vendor presence, both internal and external.
9. Responsible for supporting division wide cost reduction and containment initiatives.
10. Responsible for supporting the preparation of, and carrying out of, significant internal and external project presentations.
11. Communication - Provide timely project status reports, in written or verbal format as requested.
12. Special Assignments - Responsible for completion of special assignments as required.
*EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE*
*· *Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) required.
· 3 years experience preferred as a quality/test engineer for DC motor/geartrain type actuator electro-mechanical products. Experience in airflow/pressure measurement preferred.
· Experience facilitating and writing a DFMEA highly desirable
· Experience in functional test equipment specifications and Gage R&R testing.
· Understanding of Measurement Systems Analysis methods and control preferred.
· Familiarity with statistical methods for data analysis preferred.
· Experience with general office computer tools (word processing,
spreadsheets, office communications).
