A group of organisations regularly funded by Arts Council England have come together to present the South West Theatre Symposium.

The event takes place at Salisbury Playhouse on 18 March and is an opportunity for those working in the performing arts to share best practice, explore new ways of working and celebrate theatre in the region.

Phil Gibby, Area Director, Arts Council England, South West, said: "This gathering of minds is incredibly important to the future of artistic practice and to developing audiences. To share ideas and challenges and to find ways of genuinely working together will help to cultivate sustainable practices and ultimately support the delivery of more great art and culture to more people."

The Symposium launches Theatre Fest West, a festival created by Salisbury Playhouse in 2012 as a platform for performance artists in the region. The festival runs from 18 March to 2 April and showcases exciting local theatre makers across five partner venues: Salisbury Playhouse; Salisbury Arts Centre; The Pound in Corsham; Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge Arts Centre.

Gareth Machin, Artistic Director, Salisbury Playhouse says: "We are immensely proud of Theatre Fest West and are delighted to be working with our partner venues to bring the most inventive companies from across the region to take part in this year's festival."

With a different show nearly every night, the festival has something for everybody. In the second week there will be a family focus to the programme to coincide with the Easter holidays.
