The TAC has a new website!: www.texasartistscoalition.org. The Texas Artists Coalition is a membership program designed to offer benefits for artists in the North Texas community. 8th Annual TAC Juried Membership Exhibit August 9 – 30

Juror Kenneth Craighead of Craighead Green Gallery in Dallas selected works from the Texas Artists Coalition membership. Reception Aug. 9 6-9pm. 47 works by 29 artists out of 163 works by 60 artists with more 3D pieces than ever before, and an eclectic selection of styles and subject matter. The mission of the TAC is to support the career development of artists, whether they are emerging or established, amateur or professional.  MORE  

Ron Cheek Figurative Class

Tuesday, August 13 and September 24, 2013; 6 – 9PM

$25 for TAC Members/$35 for non-members Master artist Ron Cheek will guide the class through traditional figure drawing/painting techniques that are sure to enhance your abilities.

Ron A. Cheek is the founder of the Texas Academy of Figurative Art. Cheek is trained in academic, Old Master techniques and combines those with contemporary subject matter in his paintings.

Artists will need to bring their own art supplies – easels and chairs will be provided. Since this is an instructor-led class, you may not use your pre-paid Life Drawing hours. Sign up at 817.298.3021 or gallerymanager@fwcac.org

TAC Life Drawing Sessions at the FWCAC 

Tuesday, August 13, 20, 27, 2013; 9AM – 12noon: Daytime Life Drawing;  We will no longer offer a regular Saturday or evening session. If you wish to have an evening or Saturday session, you will need to contact us in advance and help obtain participants.A model will be available for a 3 – hour session. Artists will need to bring their own art supplies; easels and chairs provided. No instruction will be offered. Cost is $50 for 5 sessions or $15 per session for TAC members, $75 for 5 sessions or $20 per session for public.SIGN UP in ADVANCE is now REQUIRED, although drop-ins are allowed, but at your own risk – we may cancel the session without enough pre-registered artists! (We have to pay the models whether anyone shows up or not!)

Plein Air: Day in the District

Saturday, September 28, 9AM – 2PM

Plein Air artists are invited to paint in the Cultural District for Day in the District, sharing the visual arts experience with the thousands of visitors that come to the area that day. Bring all your own supplies. You may need a drop cloth at certain locations. Meet at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center at 9AM; we will disperse from there, or if you come later, just pick a spot. Want to learn how to create your own Kindle fine art books and self-publish them? The Fort Worth Community Arts Center is offering an Ebook workshop for $125. Participants need to bring a laptop and have access to a minimum of 20 (max 36) good photographs of their artwork on their laptop, and should also have their artist statement and a short bio prepared. The Fort Worth Community Arts Center is opening a small gift shop comprised of FWCAC promotional items and small artist-made pieces. We are interested in original jewelry, ceramics, glass, weavings, woodwork, metalwork, wearable art, handmade prints and cards, photography and other fine art and craft works. In general, works should be no larger than two feet, although larger works will be considered.To apply, please send images of your work and a bio on CD to ARTshop FWCAC, 1300 Gendy St., Fort Worth Texas 76107 or e-mail to gallerymanager@fwcac.org.
We are looking for artwork that is original in concept and professionally presented. A maximum of 10 works will be accepted from each artist selected by the jury to be displayed for a minimum of 90 days, with an option to be renewed. Any sold work may be replaced. The ARTshop charges a 25% commission on sold work. All sales will be handled by FWCAC staff and volunteers, and the FWCAC will issue checks at the end of each 90 day period. Questions?
