1979: Chrysler Project Calls for Product Line for 1990

This project was part of a series of realistic design projects sponsored every other term by the three major U.S. automotive companies. It challenged the advanced transportation design students to develop a hypothetical presentation for the Chrysler Board of Directors describing the automotive market in 1990 and outlining Chrysler’s product mix to meet the needs of that market. This assignment required that each student address all areas of design in a full range of markets, developing a highly creative concept for each vehicle appropriate to its market segment and applying innovations in electronics, power plant, mechanical systems and materials. Industrial Design department chairman, Keith Teter, and Richard Hutting are the instructors and ArtCenter graduate, Neil Walling, manager, advanced product design at Chrysler,  supervised the assignment.
