Chiefs To Enhance Public Safety At Arrowhead from The Mothership
"We pride ourselves on making Arrowhead Stadium a safe and enjoyable environment for our fans," said Chiefs President Mark Donovan. "This new policy will enhance those efforts.
Fans will continue to be able to enjoy their tailgate activities in the parking lots and to do so with greater safety and the knowledge that their entry into the stadium will be smoother and faster.
In recent years the Chiefs have enhanced their already comprehensive safety plans with the additional measures such as pat downs, bag checks and metal detectors.
NFL Announces Limits On What Fans Can Bring Into Stadiums, Including Arrowhead from KC Star
The NFL, in the interest of public safety, Thursday announced a policy that limits the size and types of bags that may be brought into stadiums this season.
About all that will be allowed are clear plastic bags smaller than 12 inches wide, or one-gallon Ziploc-type bags, according to the league.
That means women attending Chiefs games at Arrowhead Stadium will have to leave their purses at home, unless it is a small hand-sized clutch bag. And fans will need to put their wallets, glasses, cell phones and other personal items into plastic bags if they can't carry those items in.
The NFL Committee on Stadium Security in May unanimously recommended the implementation of this measure with the hope it enhances public safety and makes it easier for fans to get into stadiums. It was discussed with all 32 clubs at the May league meeting and will be implemented at all NFL stadiums beginning with preseason games.

The Browns spoke to the agent of free-agent fullback Vonta Leach, but they are not interested in signing him, a league source confirmed for the Beacon Journal this morning.
Leach's agent, Ralph Vitolo, told the Beacon Journal in an email that he talked to Browns General Manager Mike Lombardi on Wednesday, but the two sides did not make plans for Leach to visit Cleveland. If the Browns wanted to sign Leach, he would have a visit set up by now.
Rams Looking For Veteran Help from The St. Louis Post-Dispatch
At safety, the Rams have looked at Carolina's Sherrod Martin, Kansas City's Abram Elam, and Oakland's Matt Giordano.
Martin, 28, was a second-round draft choice by the Panthers in 2009 out of Troy and was the team's staring safety in both the 2010 and '11 seasons. He had 68 tackles and three interceptions in 2011. Last season, he appeared in 12 games as a backup then suffered a season-ending right knee injury in early December. Martin reportedly paid a free-agent visit to the Chiefs earlier this offseason.

Culp found immediate success and went onto a Hall of Fame career as a nose tackle. Culp recorded 68 sacks, forced 14 fumbles, and made five appearances in the Pro Bowl during a 14-year career.

The Cleveland Indians do the same, though that team's name is based on Christopher Columbus' mistaken assumption he had landed in India and valid to criticize for not truly representing Native American culture.
Those team names are fair game for debates about whether they're on the right side of the line between honoring a culture and exploitatively stereotyping all Native Americans as warriors. The fact that there even is a line in those discussions places those names miles ahead of Washington's team.
