Statistical Look: Chiefs vs. Raiders from The Mothership

The Kansas City Chiefs return to practice, later this morning, with a team-wide focus on a more-than-familiar rival, the Oakland Raiders.

Sunday's game between the Chiefs and Raiders marks the 110th meeting between the clubs, which is the most Kansas City has faced any single opponent.

Below is a quick look back at the Week 6 matchup, from earlier this year, as well as season stats for both clubs, entering Sunday's game at O.co Coliseum, with kickoff slated for 3:05 p.m. CT.

The Eric Berry Effect On The Chiefs from The Mothership

There are usually two types of leaders, those who are vocal and those who like to lead by example and then there's Chiefs Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry, who does both. Before each game, Berry is the one who rallies his teammates in a huddle for a pregame speech that lights a fire inside each player.

While Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he is not a 'rah-rah' coach, he does appreciate the energy, passion and leadership Berry brings to each and every game, practice and workouts.

Chiefs Visit Children At The Pediatric Unit from The Mothership

"We came to the hospital to visit patients, to give back to the community and hopefully brighten some people's day," Nico Johnson explained. "It means a lot to us to be able to make these kids smile, to distract them with what they're going through and give them some Christmas gifts."

The holidays are an important time for the entire Chiefs organization to give back to the Kansas City community and thank Chiefs fans for their unwavering support.

"It means the world to our patients to have visitors, while they're here in the hospital, especially during the holiday season," Allison Malicoat, Nurse Manager at The University of Kansas Hospital commented. "This was many of our patients' highlight to their day, having the Chiefs come by their rooms and bring them gifts means a lot to our patients and is an incredible way for the Chiefs to give back to the community."

Helmet To Helmet - Trip Report from The Mothership

One other point of note, from the win, outside the obvious aspect of a great victory, was the number of Chiefs fans in attendance. The Chiefs Kingdom members in attendance were a large enough percentage of those in the stands that at the end of the National Anthem, the signature "Home of the Chiefs" could be heard booming in the stadium. Chiefs fans gave the feeling of a home-field advantage on the road.

Chiefs Are Relying On Guard Geoff Schwartz's Run Blocking from KC Star

Nearly a half-hour after the starters were replaced Sunday in the Chiefs' 45-10 drubbing of Washington, right guard Geoff Schwartz was still smiling.

The fact that the Chiefs had just snapped a three-game losing streak certainly had something to do with this - as did the fact that he had just turned in another strong effort, his fourth in a row since being inserted into the starting lineup.

Chiefs Approaching Decision On Sitting Players from Chiefs Spin

There's an argument for both sides when it comes to resting players down the stretch after clinching a playoff spot.

And the Chiefs could find themselves in that position after Week 15, leaving coach Andy Reid with a choice.

"I've done both, gone both ways with that," Reid said during Monday's media session. "I have held people from games and at the same time also played people, just depending on what I feel we need to get ourselves ready if we have that opportunity to continue to play."

Fisher's Progress Key In Short, Long Term from ESPN

The first pick in this year's draft, Fisher's play early in the season was frequently so bad the Chiefs had to be tempted at times to get him out of their lineup, for his safety as well as that of quarterback Alex Smith. But other than in the Nov. 17 game against the Broncos in Denver, Fisher has played better and graded higher of late.

Power Rankings: No. 7 Kansas City Chiefs from ESPN

These are the perils of playing one of the NFL's worst teams. The Kansas City Chiefs went on the road Sunday and returned with a 45-10 victory. But because it happened against the feeble Washington Redskins, it was almost as if it didn't happen in the ESPN Power Rankings.

Chiefs Need To Get A Longer Look At Davis from ESPN

Davis is becoming a more intriguing player for the Chiefs, not just for the rest of this season but beyond. Earlier in the season, his progress was so minimal that it appeared the Chiefs needed to add a veteran back to spell Jamaal Charles.

That no longer looks necessary. In the bigger picture, Davis may be good enough to go into next season as Charles' top backup and eventually become his successor as Kansas City's featured back.

Kansas City Chiefs: A Formidable Foe For Feeble Oakland Raiders from CBS Sacramento

Kansas City has undergone a remarkable turnaround from last year's 2-14 finish: they began this season 9-0, and after blasting the Washington Redskins last week, they are one win away from the postseason. The Chiefs have a chance to improve their win total by 11 victories if the team wins out, unheard of in NFL history: only the 1999 Indianapolis Colts and the 2008 Miami Dolphins both won 10 more games than they had the previous season.

Head Coach Andy Reid deserves a lot of credit for this turnaround, both in personnel decisions and in maximizing what talent was on the roster. And perhaps that all starts, on offense, with running back Jamaal Charles.

Raiders Set To Host Chiefs from Raiders.com

Last Sunday, the Raiders started seven undrafted players on offense, including all of the skill positions. The last team to start that many players on offense was the Redskins on 11/10/02. The seven undrafted players are: WR Andre Holmes, G Lucas Nix, TE Jeron Mastrud, WR Rod Streater, QB Matt McGloin, FB Marcel Reece and FB/RB Jamize Olawale.

Allen Focused On Chiefs, Not Job Security from ESPN

And on one hand, the Raiders seem destined to match last year's 4-12 record, which is anything but evolution in the "you are what your record says you are" line of thinking. But on the other hand, Oakland had been much more competitive in its losses while dealing with a growing list of injuries and a lack of quality depth.

Then came Sunday's "embarrassing" 37-27 defeat to the New York Jets in which the Raiders defense "peed down" their leg, according to veteran free safety Charles Woodson.

Not a good visual, on any level.

Former Green Wave Star Signed To Chiefs Practice Squad from The Gaston Gazette

It'd be safe to say 24-year-old Jheranie Boyd's professional football career has had some twists and turns.

It took another turn Tuesday when the Kansas City Chiefs signed the 2009 Ashbrook High graduate to their practice roster.

Raiders Playing For Pride Down The Stretch from ESPN

"Well, we've got three games against division opponents, so it will be a great opportunity for us to measure ourselves up against the teams that are in our division," Allen said. "Those are the teams, that if we aspire to be a playoff team, those are the teams that we've got to be able to beat.

"So, I'll look for [our players] to rise up to the challenge and try to win these football games. That's what we're trying to do. And our guys will respond. They'll come back."
