Chiefs Focus Shifts To Denver In Week 13 from The Mothership

"You'll have two of them that are playing that came off of heart-wrenchers," coach Reid said of the Broncos and Chiefs. "It should be a great atmosphere......you have two teams that are 9-2, same division, that's what it's all about. This is kind of what's fun about this business; you're within shooting distance, right here, and you get to this time of the year and you're in the hunt, what a beautiful thing that is. You remember where this thing started, way back in February, March. These guys have been busting their tails from that period on and all of the sudden you're sitting here and you have an opportunity where these games mean something. Good stuff, it means good stuff. That's the exciting part of it."

Chiefs Need To Borrow A Page From New England's Book Against The Broncos from FS Kansas City

Step 1: Grab the nearest tire iron.

It wasn't football. It was WrestleMania XXX. The Little Old Lady Who Lives In A Shoe doesn't use that many clotheslines.

At the line of scrimmage, there was more pushing and shoving than a House of Pain video. It was college basketball, before the rules-makers decided to get cute.

It was as if the game plan for the week had been drawn up by that noted military strategist, John "Bluto" Blutarsky from the movie "Animal House:" Welker? Dead! Decker? Dead! Thomas? Dead!

Looking Ahead To Broncos At Chiefs from The Mothership

In the past two games at Arrowhead Stadium, QB Alex Smith has passed for 519 yards with 5 TDs vs. one INT and a 104.5 rating. Smith (314) needs 73 rush yards for the most in one season by a QB in Chiefs history (Tyler Thigpen, 386).

Chiefs To Put Wounded Defense Against Denver from The Associated Press via FS Kansas City

The impenetrable wall that was the Kansas City defense was breached by the Denver Broncos two weeks ago, when Peyton Manning and his cohorts ran up and down the field in a 27-17 victory.

It crumbled entirely against Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers last weekend.

Now, what was once considered among the most fearsome groups in the NFL is a wounded one -- both physically and mentally -- as the Broncos prepare to return to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

50/50 Raffle At Arrowhead from The Mothership

This year, NFL teams had the opportunity to host a 50/50 raffle, where one lucky fan wins half of the net proceeds, while the other half is donated to a local charity, through the Hunt Family Foundation.

The Chiefs began the raffle program at the home opener on September 15th and through eight games have raised $106,337 for local non-profit agencies in the Kansas City area.

Kansas City Chiefs Mascot Injured In Zip Line Fall, Attorney Blames Human Error from The Associated Press via The NY Daily News

A man who has been the Kansas City Chiefs' mascot for more than two decades was in stable condition after being seriously injured this weekend while rehearsing a zip line routine at Arrowhead Stadium. His attorney said Tuesday his injuries appear to be caused by human error.

Dan Meers, 46, who has played the KC Wolf since the mascot's inception in 1989, was seriously injured Saturday while practicing for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers. No description of Meers' specific injuries was available, but a longtime friend said Meers suffered a serious back injury.

Justin Houston Likely Out Vs. Denver from ESPN

Kansas City Chiefs star pass-rusher Justin Houston likely will miss Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos because of an injured elbow, team and league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Houston has a dislocated right elbow, an injury he suffered in last weekend's loss to the San Diego Chargers.

Kansas City Chiefs Linebacker Leads Rush To Replace Stolen Turkeys from CBS Sacramento

He also encouraged people to donate to the shelter.

And they did.

The mission, which normally has about 900 turkeys this time of the year how has 1,200-some of which it plans on using for Christmas.

Power Rankings: No. 6 Kansas City Chiefs from ESPN

The Chiefs were No. 1 in the rankings as recently as two weeks ago, when they were 9-0. After losing their last two, including a home game on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, the Chiefs this week have dropped to sixth.

Alex Smith Can Carry Kansas City from ESPN

The Chiefs didn't trade for Alex Smith this offseason solely because they wanted a smart game manager who wouldn't kill their offense with turnovers. They acquired him because they needed a quarterback who knows how to win. Sometimes that requires him to do what he's done for most of this season: throw the safe pass, make the key play when necessary and use his feet to keep the chains moving when his arm can't get the job done. These days it means Smith has to show people more of what he revealed in Sunday's 41-38 loss to San Diego -- that he can elevate his game when his team is in dire straits.

Chiefs Can't Adequately Cover For Injuries from ESPN

It became evident Monday, when outside linebacker Justin Houston wandered through the locker room with his dislocated elbow tightly wrapped, that it was a good idea for the Kansas City Chiefs to prepare for life without him.

Or at least to prepare for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos without him. There's no way to paint that as good news for the Chiefs, not with Houston among the league leaders in sacks with 11 and having a strong all-around season.

Broncos, Chiefs Must Find Lost Mojo from The Denver Post

Beneath the shiny veneer of their 9-2 records, the Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs share something they are loathe to admit and dare not show: self-doubt.

The NFL dares a team to be defined by its failure.

"We talked a lot about that," Denver tight end Jacob Tamme said Tuesday, addressing one of the more serious business matters for the Broncos this week: Don't let the emotional wounds fester. "You've had teams in the past that have let that happen to them. You can't let one loss continue to be on your mind to the point where it affects you going forward. So we've discussed that. We're moving on."

What Chiefs Need To Fix Against Broncos from ESPN

Courtesy of ESPN Stats & Info, here are some things that went Denver's way that the Kansas City Chiefs need to turn around Sunday in their rematch against the Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium:

Consistency Ratings: Week 13 from ESPN

As a unit, the Chiefs' D/ST totaled minus-8 fantasy points the past two weeks combined, tied with the San Diego Chargers' D/ST (minus-8 in Weeks 2-3) for the second-worst consecutive-weeks total in the NFL (theAtlanta Falcons, with minus-9 in Weeks 10-11, were worst). They are only the sixth team in the league to have finished in the red in consecutive weeks; they joined the Chargers, Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars(Weeks 3-4 and 7-8), Minnesota Vikings (Weeks 11-12) and New York Giants (Weeks 2-3).

Broncos vs. Chiefs Tickets Down 29% This Week from The Pitch

Tickets for this divisional battle have an average price of $250 on the secondary market, which is down 29% this week. However, it's almost 75% above the average price of home Kansas City Chiefs tickets. On the low end, fans can get into Arrowhead for $68.

Since starting 9-0, the Chiefs have lost two games in a row to the Broncos two weeks ago and to the San Diego Chargers this past week in a shootout.

Chiefs Blood Drives Hope To Beat Holiday Drought from WIBW

The Kansas City Chiefs and Community Blood Center are teaming up for their 16th Annual Chiefs Week Blood Drive November 25-30. The event started in 1998 as a way to boost blood donations right before the winter holidays...

...The requirements to donate are few; you must be at least 16 years of age, weigh a minimum of 115 pounds and be in generally good health. In just 60 minutes you can donate one pint of blood and save a life.

Decisive Moments: Game-Winning TDs Shouldn't Be This Easy from MMBQ

Demps took the blame for the play after the game on Twitter. "Please, do not give Sean Smith a hard time, fans," he said. "That play was on me!"

That's true, but you could also question the coverage employed by defensive coordinator Bob Sutton. The Chargers had no timeouts left, so giving up a throw in the field of play wouldn't have been such a bad thing. Playing with three deep safeties instead of what turned out to be one in reality would have been a better option.

Chiefs Trying To Figure Out Opponents' Pick Tactics from The Wichita Eagle

Kendrick Lewis sees the pattern. He is the Chiefs' starting free safety and surveys the field 15 yards in front of the line of scrimmage. How could he not see the way teams are attacking the Chiefs' man-heavy defense these days?

"It's obvious, man," Lewis said after the Chiefs' 41-38 loss to San Diego on Sunday. "You're a man-to-man team, you (beat that with) crossing routes, out routes, pick routes. (San Diego) took whatever they could take from the Denver game and they executed against us."

Cris Collinsworth As NFL Analyst Often Draws Ire Of Broncos Fans - Why? from The Denver Post

I live in Denver, and I enjoy the insightful and introspective commentary of Cris Collinsworth.

So, yeah, I'm the one.

The vitriol has gone viral. After back-to-back Broncos games on NBC's "Sunday Night Football," many Denver fans have become not just irritated but irate with Collinsworth.

"Comments and tweets complaining about Collinsworth have been rampant at Mile High Report the past two weeks," said Kyle Montgomery, who helps run the Broncos fan site. "Fans are definitely noting a sense of bias, and it is hard to ignore."

Football's First Thanksgiving from Pro Players Insider

Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt lobbied for an AFC team to host a Thanksgiving game and lobbied in favor of his Chiefs for the game.

In 2006, as part of a compromise the Lions and Cowboys will keep their Traditional games and the NFL added a 3rd tripleheader night game. The night game hosts are rotated every year. The Kansas City Chiefs hosted the first Thanksgiving Night Game, beating the Denver Broncos 19-10.
