Arkansas Tech University posted a 3-1 record at the Abbey Road Invitational volleyball classic in Belmont, N.C., on Friday and Saturday.

The Golden Suns (5-3) will play their first home match and their first Great American Conference match of the season when they host the University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms on Tuesday, Sept. 17. First serve at Tucker Coliseum is scheduled for 6 p.m. Admission will be free.

Arkansas Tech 3, Claflin 0

Amber Cerrillos notched 25 assists and seven service aces to lead Arkansas Tech to a 25-13, 25-16, 25-16 victory over Claflin University on Friday.

Katie Huff made 10 kills, Kaylee Konsella notched nine kills and Morgan McKellar had 13 digs for the Golden Suns.

Arkansas Tech 3, UNC Pembroke 0

Arkansas Tech made Friday at the Abbey Road Invitational a clean sweep by defeating the University of North Carolina Pembroke 25-13, 25-16, 25-16.

Tech’s Emily Todd (nine kills), Sara Motsinger (eight kills) and Stephanie Channell (seven kills) paced a balanced offensive attack. Cerrillos was credited with 24 assists and McKellar made 13 digs.

Arkansas Tech 3, Walsh 1

Three Arkansas Tech players reached double figures in kills as the Golden Suns registered a 25-15, 22-25, 25-14, 25-14 win over Walsh University on Saturday.

Todd led the way with 14 kills, while Channell made 13 kills and Huff finished with 12 kills. Cerrillos had 46 assists, while McKellar (15 digs) and Kaci Jackson (12 digs) led the Golden Suns’ back row defense. Huff added four blocks.

Belmont Abbey 3, Arkansas Tech 2

Belmont Abbey snapped Arkansas Tech’s four-match winning streak by defeating the Golden Suns 25-21, 20-25, 25-19, 16-25, 15-11 on Saturday.

Motsinger and Channell made 13 kills apiece for the Golden Suns, while Todd notched 11 kills. Cerrillos collected 48 assists. McKellar registered 25 digs.
