NFHS Boys Lacrosse Rules Committee has announced changes for the upcoming season.

Changes include permanent adoption of the 2021 faceoff procedure, the elimination of all double-horns, and a ban on body-checking of any player considered 'grounded' in any way.

The most urgent update involves the adoption of the "ND200" standard for shoulder pads and goalie chest protectors. First announced last summer, product compliance with ND200 reduces impact forces and the risk of commotio cordis.

The rule requires ALL PLAYERS to have new pads that conform to this standard for the 21-22 season. Using legacy pads is considered a violation of this standard, and will not be covered under the USA Lacrosse membership insurance policy.

Obviously, this creates a burden on families to purchase new equipment, and supply chains remain tight for various products. However, the pads are available now, and there is no indication the standard will be postponed.

Teams and players are urged to make plans immediately to purchase new equipment while supplies are in stock & available from all major lacrosse retailers. Online retailers include Lacrosse Unlimited, SportStop, Lacrosse Monkey, Lax.com, and others.
