Located in the western part of Argentina, the province of Mendoza is an extremely attractive region, being abundant in natural jewels and fantastic cities. The capital city of the province wears the same name. Other major cities of the province are: San Rafael, Godoy Cruz, San Martín and Luján.

The major reason of visiting this province is its famous vineyards. Mendoza Province is considered to be the main wine producing region of Argentina. Several wines are produced here, including Cavernet, Malbec, Merlot and so on. Besides, there are some fascinating natural attractions here, too, including the Aconcagua and Las Leñas. Wine

As I already mentioned, the region is considered to be one of Argentina’s most important wine regions. About two-thirds of the country’s entire wine production is provided by this province. The vineyards are planted at the some of the world’s highest altitudes, as the region lies at the foothills of the Andes.

The main wine producing areas of the province fall into two main departments: Maipú and Luján. With wonderful vineyards planted at altitudes between 800 and 1,100 m, the Luján region is famous particular for its Malbec. Mendoza City

The beautiful city of Mendoza is situated in the northern-central part of the province. This region lies at the foothills and high plains of the Andes. Thus, the setting of the city is a picturesque one. The city is a stopover for many climbers on their way to the famous Aconcagua. It is also a popular destination for those who love Argentine wine.

The Aconcagua

The Aconcagua Mountain is the highest mountain in the Americas, at 6,960.8 m. It is a mountain peak in the Andes mountain range. The mountain is protected by a provincial park. The mountain is famous for including some beautiful glaciers, too.

The Aconcagua is a very popular destination for climbers, but the highest elevation is recommended for experienced climbers only. There are numerous itineraries and camp sites dedicated to climbers. The high season for climbing the mountain is between the 15th of December and the 31st of January.

Las Leñas

Located in the western part of the province, Las Leñas is one of the largest and most popular Andean ski resorts in the country. The ski resort includes ski and snowboard schools at the same time, dedicated for all ages. Childcare facilities are also available.

As for the accommodation, there are available several hotels, apartment hotels and sleep houses. Coffee houses, souvenir shops, restaurants and even night clubs complete the commercial offer.
