Meet the candidates:
Angus
The fact that he’s a rescue and without ARF or us adopting him his future would have been unknown.
He’s also the sweetest most laid back puppy one could ask for.
Athena
No description submitted.
Barney
Barney is a smart and spirited little guy. He is very inquisitive and loves to explore. Barney has been loving his classes at Dogma over the past few months, and is on his way to becoming a well mannered young man. He loves animals and people alike, and puts smiles on the faces of everyone he meets. It has been especially fun watching him experience things for the first time. He has become a great addition to our family and I can’t imagine life without him.
Buster
He shreds Kleenex and loves to eat poop. He wrestles with the cat and is convinced he’s part human. He’s a closet furniture lover and loves cuddles. He’s full of love and curiosity. He’s sometimes naughty and knows how to use his big brown eyes to successfully extricate himself from awkward situations. He’s quirky and sometimes smelly. And he’s the best thing that could have happened to our family.
Charlie
He is funny and fearless, and demanding. When he slows down enough to purr his nose turns bright pink.
Chloe
Chloe is amazing. She has welcomed a number of foster puppies into our home and has spent countless hours teaching them how to play nicely, and how to share toys and food. She seems to understand that not all puppies are the same and will temper her play and activity to the puppy’s needs. If a puppy is shy, she lies down and lets it crawl all over her. When a puppy is active and playful she will play chase games and tug.
Chloe loves to run at the dog park with her best friends Cooper and Bella and always comes home covered in mud. Of course she hates baths, but the mud hole at the dog park is a different story. After play it’s time to relax in her favorite “Lazy Girl” chair. Thank you ARF for rescuing Chloe and making our lives complete.
Delilah
Delilah aka Little Bear is the happiest dog I have ever met. When she sees her family she gets so excited her whole body shakes because her tail is wagging so hard. Sometimes she thinks it takes too much effort to walk so she prefers to hop and jump from place to place. She is 7 months old but still looks like a little bear cub.
Ein
Ein is a pretty quirky guy. He prefers to sleep on top of his crate (channelling a certain Peanuts character); he brings you his toys one by one until you throw one for him; and he sits on the back of the couch like a cat while he looks out the window. Ein knows all of his toys by name, and can finish the hardest level of dog puzzles in 30 seconds (so he isn’t just a pretty face). He is also really loving the agility classes at Sit Happens. But his best quality is how sweet he is with his sister Quiche (formerly Keesha, our salt and pepper furball). Ein has loved to snuggle Quiche since the day we adopted her, and he has played a very large part in helping her come out of her shell. He’s also really good a shedding on your work clothes!
Ellie
When we went to meet Ellie for the first time, her ARF foster Lynn told us that Ellie was her favourite puppy she had ever fostered. When we had both picked out the same puppy name, we knew Ellie was meant to come home with us. We still send Lynn updates so she knows her favourite little gal is happy with us and not a day goes by where Ellie doesn’t make us smile.
Ellie’s quirky loping run and her energetic antics gained her the reputation among friends and family that she is part dingo. She can go from being the biggest goofball to incredibly majestic in no more than a moment. Her curiosity has gotten her into a fair amount of trouble but she is hard for anyone to stay mad at because she just loves everyone so openly.
Guinness
Guinness is the light of our life. He is gentle, sweet, unconditionally loving and still thinks hes a lap dog at 60lbs! He has us going on hikes and to the parks for swims on a daily basis and shows every new person he meets his big smile as he wiggles towards them. He has opened my eyes to a love that is everlasting and unconditional. Guinness has changed my world for the better and I could not be more grateful to ARF for allowing me to have him in my life.
Hannah
We adopted Hannah March 2005, she was a young mother who we were told made a den with 6 of her pups and 1 deceased pup in several areas where she was rescued. For the first year Hannah couldn’t hear a pup cry with out getting upset. Since then she has help raise several of our friends dogs into great family members. Teaching, encouraging and showing what to do and what not to do. She is getting older and now has arthritis, now the dogs she helped to raise, look out for her. My 14 year old is growing up with her looking out for him and making him feel better when he’s had a bad day. She makes anyone who meets her fall in love with her. Being the loving dog she is makes her a great example of a success story for a rescue animal.
Hudson
Hudson is special because there is never a time where he is not excited to see his family. At first it took him a while to open up to us, but now he shows us more love and joy than ever. He is the perfect dog, inside and out!
He is extremely friendly and playful. He has a great personality and loves people.
Jet
Jet, often referred to by us as our Sweet Baby Son or Nugget Boy, has changed our lives for the better. He is the sweetest cat ever and we love him so much! He has turned us both into crazy cat people! Jet is calm, sweet and VERY cuddly. He loves to curl into our arms at night and he always flops onto his back for a belly rub. Jet always rubs his bum up against our legs and LOVES to push his face into ours. When Jet purrs it sounds like crickets and he loves kneading his little paws like he is making bread. We call his paws his cloud feet because he has adorable tufts of white fur growing out the bottoms. He has the cutest little pink nose and the most beautiful yellow eyes. Giving our little nugget a home with us was the best decision EVER.
Kahlua
Kahlua is an old soul in a rambunctious puppies body. She is sweet and gentle but not afraid to get dirty and run and play with the other dogs at the dog park. She spends her days with her best friend our old Tom Cat Bruno in the sunshine guarding(with one eye open) the house from all of the bunnies and birds that dare to come near. Kahlua likes all dogs and humans and believes they should all feel the same about her by rubbing her back end against your legs to remind you that you haven’t pet her in a few minutes. We are so lucky to have this beautiful lady share our lives and even appreciate the wet nose placed on your cheek while taking a nap on the couch.
Koda
Koda is simply the most adorable cat imaginable. Not only is he white and fluffy but his personality is so sweet and gentle. He is so cute in so many ways. He cannot meow for some reason. Instead he “squeaks”. When he runs his paws flop all over which makes it so much fun to watch. He has monster paws so we can always hear when he is approaching. When he jumps onto stools or tables he jumps in such a way that his back feet land first. It is incredible to watch. He also doesn’t know that he can jump onto the counter but for some reason stretches up so we can pick him up. But most of all, he is a snuggler and loves hugs. He is our third ARF cat and enjoys his two older brothers who are former ARF calendar cats (2013 edition).
Kona
Kona has brought so much joy to our lives. Her energy and spunk has brought new life to not only the older family dogs, but also the elderly family members. When she is not prancing around the house and playing with her toys, she is cuddling on our laps and giving all the kisses.
Kona has not only excelled at home, but also at school, as she just recently graduated Foundations at Dogma Training. We can’t wait to see all the future tricks this smarty pants can learn
Liam
There are many things that make my Liam special. He is my best friend, my confidant and the most amazing dog ever. No matter if I am sad or sick, Liam always makes me smile. He has been my shoulder to cry on when I lost my grandparents. Liam was the best thing that ever happened to me. He was my third pick with ARE and the saying ” third time is a charm” is really true. I love him!
Macy
That face. The one that greets us like a puppy. The one that pounces on our feet every morning – early. The one that flops in front of us to play at every turn. The one that zooms along the shower curtain every morning. The one that blocks my computer screen when I work. That face. The one that brings out joy in two teenagers. The one that our puppy can’t resist licking. All the time. That face. The one that’s always there. Full of love. That face. The one that brings a smile to all our faces. Everyday. That face. That’s Macy.
Max
Max is the only survivor of a litter of 1 day old kittens found late May 2014. We offered to foster and bottle raise the litter, knowing well how slim their chances were for survival. We gave feedings every 2 hours for weeks on end, subcutaneous fluids twice daily for weeks on end. By the time he was 2 weeks old he was the only one left, but this little fighter defied the odds.
After everything that we went through there was no way this little man was EVER leaving my care.
Now almost a year later, he is a amazing addition to our family! He’s bigger than the other 2 cats and one of the dogs. The cats love him and are reliving their youth. Dogs, well they become a crime ring (Max knocks food off the counter and the shares it with the dogs!
Myla
I know everyone says that there dog is the best dog in the world, but actually, our dog is. Myla is the sweetest girl. She was our first baby 5 years ago. She is our loyal, fun- loving, sweet, smiling, beautiful hound. She happily welcomed our second (human) baby into our family and not only welcomed our second (human) baby, but helped deliver him too! We joke that she is our midwife dog because the birth happened so quickly that we didn’t have time to call her friend to pick her up! She is more special to all of us than words can even describe. Every morning she wakes up smiling and happy to start a new day. She constantly reminds us that life is so much better when you share it with a dog.
Olive
Her unique Coat color and she sounds like a muted loon!
Otto
Otto is an incredibly mischievous and curious little guy, but he is the perfect fit for our family. He has fit right in with our two other cats, but has a special bond with our 4 year old dog, Benji. Otto and Benji are always cuddling and playing with each other, they’re the best of friends. I think Otto would be the perfect fit for your calendar, he’s certainly captured our hearts!
Penny
We met Penny at PetSmart. As we entered the store Penny was there like a Wal-Mart greeter. I think she chose us, because Penny followed my husband everywhere he went in the store. As we were leaving, we said goodbye to Penny, and as we walked away, we realized that we had met our dog. She is a lovely, goofy girl who makes us laugh every day. Her favourite walking route is a treed park area with lots of squirrels to chase down – she has a very high prey drive. We had been without a dog for quite a while, but we are able to find our perfect girl who fits right into our family. My mother thinks we should have renamed her Lucky because she is such a lucky dog to have landed in a family who loves her so much.
Poppy
Poppy came to us as a foster when she was 3 months old. She stole our hearts from the first day we had her. She is so laid back and gentle. She loves to snuggle under the blanket and has the loudest purr I’ve ever heard. She fit’s in perfectly to our family.
Quiche

Raleigh
Raleigh came into our life after the unexpected loss of our dog clyde and we instantly fell in love with her cute face. She is such a sweetheart who charms all that meet her, but she is also spunky and fun and currently obsessed with chasing birds. You just can’t help put fall in love with this special girl!
Rocco
Since Rocco came into our lives nearly 2 and a half years ago he has brought joy, companionship and laughter to everyone around us.
He is super smart and often completes his entire list of tricks for just one treat. He knows how to melt his parents’ hearts with big smiles and silly faces and greets us every morning with that big smile and the first toy he can find!
Rocco wants to be friends with everyone and everything… Except his arch enemies, the neighbourhood cats! He’s very good at making us forget that we’ve had a bad and we feel so privileged to have him as a part of our family.
Rue
Rue is a happy, easy going pup who has taken a great liking to her walks in the hills. We couldn’t be happier that we adopted such a great dog.
Shylo
There’s an old saying about rescue dogs. Who really rescued who? It’s true. When this “medium” dog with the big ears came to stay, she made our home. She’s got us walking. Running. She’s got two teenage boys putting down their games (sometimes) to play ball. And laugh. She’s got us out, watching her play and run, hard until that big pink tongue hangs from the side of her mouth like a cartoon character. She’s made our yard safe from squirrels. But in between the running and play, she’s brought a quiet, faithful, constant sense of peace to our home. I’m not sure if she needs to be in every room we’re in or the other way around, but this strange, sweet dog has brought us all together. It’s not rescue. It’s renewal.
Talia
Talia is very playful and full of energy! She loves any squeaker toys, collecting socks (dirty ones of course), and playing tug of war. Talia is an intelligent puppy, learning new skills and tricks daily, she will do just about anything for a milk bone! She definitely keeps us busy, but we love it, and can no longer imagine what life was like before her.
Tessa
Tessa (formerly Katie) has been with our family for almost a year now and she is absolutely wonderful! We hear all the time how gorgeous she is, with her one blue eye and one brown eye, and how amazing her demeanor is. She loves our sons, age 7 and 4, and is extremely gentle with them. She loves to play tug of war – also known as dragging the boys across the floor in fits of giggles! She even enjoys our 3 cats… even if they do not want much to do with her! Her favorite time of year is winter where she doesn’t seem to notice the cold at all and always comes back inside with snow all over her face. We love our “Princess Tessa” or “Tessa-wessa” with all our hearts!
