Scottish Sea Farms has extended a recent UK£1 (US$1.566) million contract with Oban-based Fusion Marine by a further UK£700,000 (US$1,096,199.32) to add new fish pens and hatchery equipment.

The contract extension is for new fish pens for sites including Loch Kishorn in Strathcarron and for hatchery equipment at its site in Knock on the Isle of Mull.

Since partnering with Fusion Marine six years ago, Scottish Sea Farms said in October the overall investment value to date has exceeded UK£7 (US$10.962) million.

Commenting on the contract extension, Scottish Sea Farms managing director, Jim Gallagher, said: “This latest contract, coupled with our UK£1 (US$1.566) million pound order in October, demonstrates our ongoing commitment to using Scottish suppliers.

“We have been working with Fusion Marine for a number of years now and this latest contract builds on this strong relationship and helps us to develop our fish farming sites for the future.

“We are also recruiting at many of our sites, with skilled jobs available for local areas where employment is often scarce.”
