Today, the Obama campaign announced the huge news that they will be accepting political donations over text message – the first campaign in history to do so. That means anybody can now donate $10 to Obama straight from their mobile phones. This marks what the Chicago Tribune calls “the beginning of what could be a revolution in U.S. campaign finance.”
With all of the news and articles this week about how Obama will likely become the first “incumbent president may be outspent by his challenger, a fact Obama himself conceded in June”, I looked at what I gave to the campaign back in 2008 and this year to realize how big my personal discrepancy has been. I’ve been making amends. I believe in our President and believe him not only to be a far more capable leader than the other option, but our only hope - like Obi Wan to a Princess Leia in trouble.
