Xmas : Christmas & celebrations around the world – christmas music – christmas story

By 1tucan

data-recalc-dims="1">

(2.99–>FREE) Xmas : Christmas & celebrations around the world – christmas music – christmas story is a fun little app filled with interactions that will put you and child in the mood for Christmas fun. We loved exploring the world to see how Christmas is celebrated in each part of the world. As you enter each of the countries a narrator tells you how Christmas is celebrated in each of the countries. For example when you enter China the narrator tells you how China do not actually celebrate Christmas, however their celebration happens in February and is their Chinese New Year. Children will love the amount of interaction in each and every scene. It is a wonderful little exploration as children find each and every hidden interaction throughout. My son loves the music and does a little wiggle whilst playing. In New York you can even turn the snow on and off. What I would love to have seen was a rotating globe so children can scroll around the globe, as well as other countries included to give a better view of how each and every country celebrates. I also would like to have seen some improvements in some of the graphics. Some of them are clear and others are fuzzy (like the presents on the conveyor belt). All up I think this is a fun app and guaranteed to get you in the Christmas Spirit. There are no IAP’s or external links that I could find. ~Sharon Turriff on 2014-11-06 04:16:47 ==> User rating: 4 Recommended: Yes

A Very Yo Gabba Gabba! Christmas

By Cupcake Digital

data-recalc-dims="1">

(2.99–>0.99) A Very Yo Gabba Gabba! Christmas. Join in with all of your Yo Gabba Gabba friends as they get you in the Christmas Spirit by creating Christmas themed objects. Decorate the Christmas tree, Build a Snowman, make a Gingerbread man and more as you listen to some fun music. As well as having the 5 creations from your favourite characters there is also a Christmas video with a song and Christmas colouring. Join DJ Lance and the crew as they celebrate Christmas in their unique way. I would love to have had children create the objects with their friends instead of just dragging them over to the correct area. It would have been neat for children to be able to build and decorate their own snowman instead of having the app put the face and arms where they are supposed to go. It would also have been fun, as well as working on fine motor skills for children to build the hot chocolate drink, stirring the chocolate in, using their finger to swirl the whipped cream on top, having to shake the sprinkles etc. All up this is a cute little app which will put your young ones in the right Christmas Spirit. While you are there print off your kids colouring and use it for this years Christmas cards. I recommend this app. There are no IAP’s or external links of any kind. ~Sharon Turriff on 2014-11-06 16:42:13 ==> User rating: 4 Recommended: Yes

Mr. Bear kids games in the forest – Puzzle for tots, toddlers and preschoolers free

By Banana Apps Kids

data-recalc-dims="1">

(FREE) Mr. Bear kids games in the forest – Puzzle for tots, toddlers and preschoolers free is a cute little app where children can explore a forest habitat helping out the animals along the way. As your child helps each of the cute little animals whether it be by feeding them, helping them build a bridge or a dam, putting their spots back on, getting a kite out of a tree, and more, they will soon turn a frown upside down. This app while working on important life skills like fine motor, puzzling skills, logical thinking skills also teaches your child about environmental sounds. Each of the animals you help becomes animated once you have made them happy. I would love to have seen the animals names as well as the objects on the screen, and have them spoken, to make this a more educational app, teaching children vocabulary and sight words. The free version of the app comes with 3 of the mini games and the others are available via IAP. IAP’s and other external links are locked from kids. ~Sharon Turriff on 2014-11-06 15:48:29 ==> User rating: 4 Recommended: Yes

Lasso Kid – Catching Animals Wise and Clever for Young and Old alike

By Kidcore Network AG

data-recalc-dims="1">

(FREE) Lasso Kid – Catching Animals Wise and Clever for Young and Old alike is a truly wonderful app for working on problem solving skills, logical skills and fine motor skills. The app is really fun to play and great for children of all ages. Each level increases in difficulty as your child progresses through adding in more obstacles and animals mixed all over the screen. Children use their problem solving skills as they work their way around lassoing animals, they cannot cross over an obstacle of hay or go through trees, they can also not cross another lasso line. You cannot join 2 different types of animals together for example a cow and sheep cannot be lassoed together. This is an addictive games for adults as well who will enjoy the challenge. There are 15 levels in total included in this game which are all based on a farm, you can also unlock 4 other themes via IAP. There are hints that come up throughout play to purchase the other themes, however you can turn this off from within the parents section. I highly recommend this app. There are IAP’s which are locked from kids along with any other external links. ~Sharon Turriff on 2014-11-04 16:40:11 ==> User rating: 5 Recommended: Yes

LingQ: Learn Languages on the Go

By The Linguist Institute

data-recalc-dims="1">

(FREE) LingQ: Learn Languages on the Go is an app that allows to you to try the beginning levels of one of 12 languages you would like to learn, currently, for free. In this app, you must make an account, choose a language, and download beginning lessons, using internet connection. What the app calls “beginner” is not my definition of beginner. For example, I chose a language that I have some experience with, Russian. In that language, the beginning is generally the alphabet, as it is very different that many language’s alphabet, but that is not how this app works. The focus is on learning to speak sentences, picking up vocabulary, you can read various text pieces and tap on the words to hear them spoken and see their definition. Some areas also have a flashcard option. I would not recommend this for young children, but if you want to try it out, I would recommend it more for older children and adults. The app has IAPs for 2 different subscription packages for the full version of the program. There are no ads. ~Angie Gorz on 2014-11-03 20:51:57 ==> User rating: 3 Recommended: Yes

KidsCalculate Math Basics – Learn to Count, Add and Subtract with a System based on Montessori and Number Line

By Marius Versteegen

data-recalc-dims="1">

(2.99–>FREE) KidsCalculate Math Basics – Learn to Count, Add and Subtract with a System based on Montessori and Number Line is aimed at helping children improve their knowledge and understanding of addition and/or subtraction and multiplication. Questions are read to the students so reading is not essential. The app contains practice and test questions. When the child is in test mode, there are no explanations or demonstrations because it has been practised beforehand. The questions increase in their level of difficulty as the child’s mathematical ability improves. Improvement is determined by the child’s score on each test. Initially I didn’t find the app particularly user friendly, finding it difficult to add a new user and their information, so I entered the app via the ‘model’ student named Emily. After some time of experimenting with different buttons, including the ‘settings’ button, I was eventually able to negotiate the app. It is quite useful to be able to adjust the time allowance and to change the focus of the operation. This app is good for the young mathematician in that the equations are represented visually, so they understand exactly how to solve the equation, however, it is not as much fun as other math apps that I have reviewed. The ability to enter up to thirty two student names on a single device means that it is easy to use in a classroom. There are no IAPs or advertisements in this app. ~Jenny Webster on 2014-10-11 00:09:55 ==> User rating: 4 Recommended: Yes

Tracks ‘n’ Trains: Zoo Train

By Busy Bee Studios

data-recalc-dims="1">

(2.99–>1.99) Tracks ‘n’ Trains: Zoo Train. What a fun app! I thought my daughter was going to like it, but I think it will be a bigger hit with my husband. The app allows you to play with several premade tracks or you can create your own. There are three backgrounds, and each comes with its own set of personalized “accessories.” For example, the winter one has a snowman and reindeer, while the flower one has trees and shrubs. The tracks are really easy to make once you play around with it a little. If you put in a river, the track automatically becomes a bridge, without you having to do anything. The turn-arounds are customizable so that while the train is running, you can switch the direction it will go on the next turn-around. There is something soothing about the sound effects of the train running on the tracks, and you can adjust the speed easily. This is a fun app that could be used in the classroom or clinic as a reinforcer, for vocabulary, following directions, and creative problem-solving skills. I highly recommend it. ~Kelly Maxwell on 2014-11-03 09:44:18 ==> User rating: 5 Recommended: Yes

Cut the Rope 2

By ZeptoLab UK Limited

data-recalc-dims="1">

(2.99–>0.99) Cut the Rope 2. This is a wonderful follow on from the first cut the rope or just as a game by itself. With all new levels and puzzles to figure out. By using the laws of physics you need to determine the best way to get the candy to om nom while also collecting all 3 stars, all this in the fastest time possible. The faster you complete each level and the more stars you get gives you the highest score possible. You can redo levels if you don’t get what you please and this can be redone as many times as you like. There are different worlds with different puzzles in each world. In each world you get different creatures to help you to complete puzzles. To unlock these worlds you need to collect the stars. You can make purchases from within the app like power-ups, and different costumes and candies for om nom and these are not locked. There are also links to other apps which are not locked either. A very addictive game that will have your mind working as you try to work out each puzzle to the best of your ability. You can also complete other missions by collecting stars on each level. An excellent app. ~Sharon Turriff on 2014-01-18 16:58:37 ==> User rating: 4 Recommended: Yes

Toca Hair Salon

By Toca Boca AB

data-recalc-dims="1">

(2.99–>0.99) I’ve gotten a lot of use out of this app in speech-language therapy both for language stimulation and as a reward. Kids can wash, dry, comb, cut, shave, grow, dye and add accessories to the characters’ hair. This app can be be easily used to work on the following concepts: understanding and use of color words (12 colors to choose from when dying hair), wet and dry while washing hair, long and short, and on and off (hair accessories).

There are no in-app purchases. There is an ad link on the title page to other Toca Boca apps but this can be disabled via Apple settings-instructions given in parents’ section. Giggle Ghosts: Counting Fun!

By Busy Bee Studios

data-recalc-dims="1">

(1.99–>FREE) Giggle Ghosts is a sweet little app to teach counting 1-20 in 4 chunks of 5 each. After you have helped 4 sets of 5 ghosts whistle through the game by blowing air up chimneys to help them float along, the game will then count, using a 1:1 correspondence 1-20. If you help all 20 ghosts, there is a ghost PARTAY! You must grade your force to be successful, but the payoff of spooky music and giggling ghosts and other hot spots is infectious. I liked this app, for its simplicity, but you must play it once or twice to know what to do to achieve the goal. I would recommend this as it is a lot of fun. ~Jo Booth on 2013-07-05 16:02:46 ==> User rating: 4 Recommended: Yes

Toca Robot Lab

By Toca Boca AB

data-recalc-dims="1">

(2.99–>0.99) Toca Robot Lab is awesome. I am sure that is how my son would describe it since he goes to this app again and again, even though we have had it for many months and we have hundreds of apps. He is 4 and can navigate Toca Robot Lab like it was made especially for him!

The graphics are clean and high quality. The music is perfect for the app. He does not know all of the things he is learning as he flies his robot creation through the maze, knocking things down, rolling balls, and finding the stars before heading to the magnet. Cause and effect, physics, and more!

He loves to play this app both on the iPod and iPad, so it is definitely a WINNER. ~Dece Gherardini on 2013-04-29 11:46:29 ==> User rating: 5 Recommended: Yes

Toca Kitchen

By Toca Boca AB

data-recalc-dims="1">

(2.99–>0.99) Toca Kitchen is very popular with my preschool speech students. Kids can choose from 4 characters to feed, each with different food preferences. There are 12 food choices in the fridge and 5 ways to prepare the food. I like that you can prepare each item more than one way. Example: you can slice the food, then boil it. This allows me to practice two-step directions with my students. The app can be used to practice the prepositions in, out, on, off and the adjectives hot and cold. I have found it to be useful with reluctant talkers (few kids can resist saying “in” or “on” to get to use the food processor). The kids like figuring out what the characters will eat and what they will refuse. There is an ad for other Toca Boca apps on the initial page but this can be turned off thorough Apple settings. Wee Kids Deluxe

By Ebooks&kids

data-recalc-dims="1">

(5.99–>2.99) Wee Kids Deluxe. This is a wonderful collection of apps. Which include helping your children learn the alphabet, letters, picture & word association, math, and some wonderful memory and logic games thrown in as well, with some colouring after they have finished learning. There are multiple mini games to help your children with learning as well as hand eye coordination and fine motor skills. I noticed they have fixed spelling issues which were present in some of their games with their latest update. They are wonderful games with some unique ideas behind them. I think they lack clear direction. You can go to the pause button and then click on help to work out what to do for each one, but I think if they put it at the start of each game with what needs to be done in each one this would benefit children more who are going to struggle finding where to go for help. All in all though it is an excellent all in one learning tool, which your children will benefit from. Toca Pet Doctor

By Toca Boca AB

data-recalc-dims="1">

(2.99–>0.99) Toca Pet Doctor is a fun little way for kids to work on fine motor skills, deduction skills, shape matching skills and so much more. They run their own pet doctors office where they get to choose from the multiple sick pets which one they wish to treat. Once in the room they need to work out what they need to do to treat each patient. Once they have healed each patient they then get to feed them with foods that they typically eat in the wild. This helps children learn the types of foods that animals eat as well. Once each patient is completely satisfied they then fall asleep all relaxed. When children have healed the entire room of patients they can start over again. When healing patients they will have to use a wide range of skills to complete puzzles, line up drops, clean sores, and wrap bandages around sores. A great fun little app for preschoolers. Toca Store

By Toca Boca AB

data-recalc-dims="1">

(2.99–>0.99) Toca Store. Great app to simply play or to use it as a launching pad for other activities of daily living goals, such as: increasing vocabulary – requesting and offering items that are wanted, basic counting and sequencing, and rehearsing and building tolerances for sensory input while in a store. The magical part of this app is that it is built to be interactive – it is more fun with a partner! You can negotiate everything from who is store keeper and who is customer to just ….whatcha wanna sell or buy. For kids that are more sensitive…you can practice buying items at Toca Store – and habituate to the cash register sound and the sequence of waiting (paying and bagging up your items), then progress to playing “store’, then visit a store and buy a few of the items with a checklist… The graphics are well done and inviting. The only thing that I would like is to be able to push a cart through an aisle and try to spot items that were selected to buy. That way you have the whole sequence of a store shopping…and not just the last part. ~Jo Booth on 2013-05-02 16:36:29 ==> User rating: 4 Recommended: Yes

The unique feature that I love, is that the character you are creating is multidimensional; they have a left or right side, front and back, and top and bottom. This is a feature all therapists will love, as body awareness gives you that firm foundation that helps you then begin to explore the world around you. There is a wonderful parent’s section giving ideas on how to extend play. The Toca Boca Team is always there for support, and really stands behind everything they do.
