radical feminists go back to the root of women’s oppression, aka sex-based oppression. we base our analysis on marxist theory (marx theorized how oppression occurred in our capitalistic system) but we add onto his analysis by examining how women are oppressed by men as a class (patriarchy) and how people of color are oprressed by white people (racism - intersectional feminism is focusing not just on women’s oppression but also, and primarily, on woc’s oppression and the way racism and misogyny intersect in their oppression)

gender is a patriarchal tool to maintain oppression. femininity is structured to make women weak, compliant, obedient, and to make them cater to males and the male gaze. it takes different forms in different cultures and in different ages. (look at femininity in the usa today and, say, femininity in japan today. and then take it a few centuries back. not the same at all, right ? which makes us say femininity is not innate, rather cultural, and man-made)

another thing that allows us to say that is the scientific evidence that our bain is a blank canvas : lady-brain and male brain do not exist. x x

when you eliminate gender, what remains ? personalities and a biological sex.

the things you love (glitter, blue or pink, cooking, driving cars, repairing a broken lamp, hard rock or whatever) is what makes you, you. it is your personal taste. the traits you have (kind, loving, strong-minded, clever etc etc) are the things that make your personality.

onto biological sex : whether you are born as a female or as a male dictates how patriarchy will treat you, as an oppressed, or as an oppressor. there is no way to opt out of this reality.

and since we were on the topic of lesbians : lesbians means same-sex attracted women, aka female human beings only and solely attracted to other female human beings. or to put it in a crude manner, there is no dick involved. ever.

im very familiar w intersectional feminism yes (though ive mostly read about it as misogynoir)

i wont disagree that femininity at its core is a patriarchal concept, but the fact that women (as in, people who identify with femininity) have taken the concept and changed it to be empowering rather than to be something that drives women to be controlled by men is the biggest thing that ive been a supporter of as a liberal feminist rather than a radical one

as for the gender debate, i doubt either of us are going to convince the other of whos right; my personal experiences and my stance on gender is no doubt going to be separate from yours – with other mindsets id sit by and let you keep that opinion but its the fact that the mindset you have (not that you yourself attack trans women, but you as in radfems / terfs in general) HAS been used by others to spur hatred toward trans people, specifically trans women on the basis of being gender abolitionist. while im more than for gender abolition (the concept of gender and the unnecessary divides that it creates are far from innate) the mental aspect (as in identity) is, as others before me have said and i only echo the sentiment, on a spectrum. while gender itself doesnt truly exist for the sake of being a physical thing, it does exist – largely because of patriarchy, but also as a part of identity

the biggest question that i have for you, as someone who understands gender abolitionism and is still antiradfem - where does genetalia come into play with your attraction? how does one persons genitals determine whether youre attracted to them or not? i consider my attractions to be based in masculinity and femininity, being bisexual myself
that being said, how do you determine being attracted to someone? if you know someone and feel attracted to them, would that attraction go away if you knew they were a trans woman? would you not treat them like a woman because of their genetalia?

i mainly ask because i see no way for this to be anything but fetishization of genetalia if thats all lesbian attraction is based off of

Oh look, a bisexual dumbfuck trying to tell a lesbian her sexual orientation is a fetish.

Why don’t you just stick to reblogging anime?
