About the role
As an Apprentice you will provide design, build, operational and maintenance support to a range of broadcast and telecommunications systems and networks across the operational region.

In order to complete our maintenance schedules, this role requires individuals to work outside in all weathers, attend isolated, rural hilltop locations and work alone on a regular basis.

The working week is 8:30-17:00pm, Monday to Friday. There is a requirement to work outside normal hours including weekends and nights where necessary to provide either planned or corrective maintenance and upon completion of training, you will be required to be rostered to be on call as part of our second line service response.

What will I do?

Complete corrective maintenance, demonstrating ability to identify faults and take action to rectify the issue.

Conduct planned maintenance in line with company procedures and standards across a range of TV, Radio and telecommunication Radio networks.

Assist our national project team to install, commission and upgrade new or existing broadcast systems.

Complete accurate and concise technical reports in line with Arqiva, customer and ISO Quality system requirements.

Use, maintain and secure a range of test equipment, identifying right equipment for job, conducting tests to standard and demonstrating ability to interpret results.

Maintain, repairs and configure electronic and mechanical broadcast/telecommunication equipment.

Ensure accurate records and logs are maintained

Identify opportunities to improve service, process or systems

Entry Requirements

At least 5 standards (Level 1 – 3) OR 5 National Level 5 grades at A-C, which must include Maths, English and either IT or science

5 Higher Grades at A-C preferably one of which should be in Maths, IT or Science

A full, valid UK driving licence

You will receive training and qualifications such as rooftop safety, first aid, basic electrical, trailer driving licence as part of the apprentice programme.

Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals Level 4 Diploma

IT Level 4 Diploma

Foundation Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering

Working Week

Future Prospects
Upon satisfactory completion of their apprentice programme, apprentices will have the opportunity to progress into our Regional Operations teams as Field Technicians and from there towards Engineer status. Other opportunities will also exist for individuals prepared to be flexible and relocate where necessary.
