Lionel Battle Train Now Available for Free Download in the iOS App Store. Lionel Trains (http://www.lionel.com/), the iconic model train company with a 113-year heritage, today announced the launch of its first iPad gaming application, Lionel Battle Train. The action-packed mobile game challenges players to deliver cargo on a customizable train while fighting off enemy RoboCars through nineteen different missions and three unique regions. The application is now available for free download in the U.S. and Canadian iOS App Stores.

The legendary brand has provided train enthusiasts, hobbyists and families alike with realistic model trains that incorporate interactive controls, light, speed, sounds and even smoke. With the launch of Lionel Battle Train, the Company is chugging into the digital age, bringing the play experience and love for classic trains to a mobile platform that’s become the common ground for a younger generation.

“Railroads are a symbol of American culture and history, and for more than a century Lionel has manifested the tradition with highly detailed model train sets,” said Jerry Calabrese, CEO, Lionel Trains. “Lionel Battle Train marks the beginning of a larger digital initiative for the Company, as we continue to drive the passion for trains on a platform that kids today are so familiar with.”

Lionel Battle Train is set in a land that’s confronted by an evil villain, Dr. DeRaille. The objective is to deliver precious cargo to people across three regions: the prairie, desert and mountains. Each mission becomes increasingly difficult, and requires players to arm their trains with more advanced weaponry as Dr. DeRaille dispatches bigger enemy RoboCars preventing the player from delivering the cargo. In the context of the game, people across the three regions have depended on the Lionel Delivery Company for 100 years — and it is the player’s charge to ensure that the train accomplishes each mission.
