Ok, I received some of these brand new snacks in the mail from the folks at Classic Foods, and after trying them I secreted them away so my kids couldn’t have any. Shocking, I know. I’m not proud of it, but I had my reasons. What reasons? I wanted to share them with some other dietitians at a meeting I was going to—and I’m glad I did because every one of those dietitians who tried them, liked them. A lot. What are Poptillas, you ask? Well, they are popped tortilla chips–a new idea as far as I know. The seasoning mixtures are really good–the salsa verde actually tastes like salsa to me. Plus, they have less fat than regular fried tortilla chips because they are popped. I happen to like the light and crunchy texture of these chips better than that of baked tortilla chips (though they have a little more fat in them). In my w
orld, these kinds of snacks are a treat and not a daily staple, so I’d rather eat what I really like. I’m the same way with chocolate (smile).
