Los Angeles, CA 90012
Event Description:
Maneuvering L.A.’s complicated history and many layers can prove as difficult as navigating its traffic. In the new book “Latitudes: An Angeleno’s Atlas,” a diverse group of contributors provide new insights into the complexities of the City of Angels—past and present—through lyrical essays and innovative maps. On Thursday, October 8, KPCC and L.A. Commons join forces to present a dynamic evening with “LAtitudes" essayists Rosten Woo, Sylvia Sukop and Michael Jaime-Becerra to explore “the hitherto terra incognita of our city.” Each will present an excerpt from the book and sit down with Oscar Garza, senior producer of “The Frame,” for a casual conversation at the Angel City Brewery in downtown Los Angeles.
The evening will serve as a prelude to L.A. Commons' fifth annual Found L.A. festival, a weekend of free tours around town. This year’s installment, which runs Oct. 17–18, was inspired by “LAtitudes" and invites people from around the city to learn more about the vast expanse that is Los Angeles.
