Event Description:

TUESDAYS 6:30-9PM: February 3, February 10, February 17, February 24

This four session course will offer an in-depth introduction to bicycle mechanics, led by Neighborhood Bike Works mechanic Arthur Zahor. Students will leave the course with a basic understanding of the most common repairs required to maintain bicycles. No prior experience with bicycle maintenance is required. Topics to be covered include: fixing a flat, brake adjustments, derailleur adjustments, bearing systems adjustment and overhaul, cable replacement, safety checking a bike, component specific tools, nomenclature of different bike parts, and basic bike fitting. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bikes to work on in class, and more advanced procedures can be covered upon request. This course is limited to 8 people, with a 4 person minimum.
