Three distinguished trainers will share their global experiences and empower participants to think and act strategically and collaboratively even in the face of strong, emotionally charged conflict. Participants will be challenged to reach new levels of awareness in order to facilitate authentic conversations and remain poised in any conflict.

MCLE credits will be provided by the American Institute of Mediation.

Harnessing the Power of the Master Mediator with Lee Jay Berman | November 13-14, 2014

Harnessing the Power of the Master Mediator is a course designed explicitly for mediators who have achieved a level of success and a respect for other mediation styles and applications, and who are prepared to move beyond the confines of evaluative and facilitative processes of mediation and make a difference with their work – both in the lives of participants in their mediations, and in themselves. This course is for those who are ready to move to the next level of awareness and consciousness, grounded in mutual respect and deeper connections with the participants.

This workshop is just what mediators need who feel like their work has hit a plateau. These are also the skills that mediators need to manage highly effective joint sessions. In this experiential workshop, we reach outside of classic mediation training and work with the tools that master mediators draw upon that allow them to function at a higher level.

In this workshop, attendees will learn:

To understand the neuroscience of the brain and how chemicals affect it,

To utilize neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) to build rapport and understanding,

The psychology of conflict and manipulation in order to manage highly effective joint sessions

To raise your perceptual levels in order to realize the infinite openness of the present moment

To strengthen the heart-mind coherence to achieve the fullest embodiment of consciousness possible

Light tai chi and subtle energy work to demonstrate the push, pull and twist of dialogue in conflict and negotiation and how to effectively manage the off-balance conversation.

The Mediator Mindset: Asking Questions that Promote Understanding, Collaboration and Resolution with Marilee Adams | February 5-6, 2015

The wisest and most successful mediators ask the best questions in the best ways to achieve desired results for their clients and themselves. They use the “mediation mindset” to think and act strategically, creatively and collaboratively. They also empower their clients to intentionally operate from a learning orientation and neutralize a judgmental one so as to achieve win-win outcomes.

In this workshop, attendees will learn:

To understand the mediation mindset--how to activate, utilize, and strengthen it

Question Thinking (the questions we ask ourselves that drive thinking) in order to promote operating from a learning orientation rather than a judgmental one

To utilize a discipline of asking questions, listening, and facilitating that is thoughtful, balanced, and comprehensive—and that fosters dignity, respect, and accountability throughout the process

To follow guidelines for facilitating authentic, collaborative conversations that lead to resolution and that transform conversations that could otherwise derail the process or end up in self-righteous “stand offs.”

To develop the ability to teach clients Question Thinking skills so they can prevent or diminish conflict in their lives and become more successfully collaborative, both personally and professionally.

Dealing with Entrenched Belief Systems and Strong Emotion in High Conflict Situations | May 7-8, 2015

Conflict situations often involve strong emotions, strong personalities, deep-seated beliefs and biases. Successful interventions require deep analysis and diagnosis of the conflict situation, a quick decision on the appropriate tools for engagement as well as effective execution the intervention. These skills are usually acquired by trial and error and take years of experience to develop.  Participants will learn from the trenches how to become masterful in conflict situations by being able to identify which strategy is most effective at any given moment during the conflict resolution process.

In this highly interactive workshop, you will learn how the human brain in conflict and those experiencing strong emotion process information.  Participants will learn to recognize and be able to work with the common patterns of emotion that may thwart resolution, impair constructive decision making processes and collaboration.

You will develop a highly valuable skill set of tried and true techniques, including core messaging and affect labeling, that you can utilize when confronted with strong emotion.

In this workshop, attendees will learn:

To become proficient in the techniques of Core Messaging of Affect Labeling.

To become masterful at redirecting strong emotions that will allow for engagement of the rational part of the brain in conflict situations.

To identify your own internal reactions to high emotion and learn how they may be impairing your ability to identify the needs of the individuals in conflict.

To develop an advanced skill set that will allow you to remain centered, poised, and in control during any high heat encounter.

To understand and integrate scientific findings that support the tools and techniques learned in the workshop.

Strategies for working with entrenched belief systems and be able to identify their impact on the conflict engagement process.
