Fives Futbol powered by Hisense and hydrated by Powerade will be hosting South Africa’s very own 5-a-side World Cup tournament on 12th July 2014 at the Fives Century City venue, kicking off today with their “Lead the Nation” campaign video. In the spirit of the 2014 World Cup, 64 teams from in and around the Cape Town will be going head-to-head for a full days event.

“As the build up starts for the FIFA Soccer World Cup 2014, the idea is to not only have fans watching the games and cheering at their TVs but to get them physically involved in playing soccer during World Cup fever,” says Adam Fine, CEO Fives Futbol.

This two-part campaign rolls out as of the 14th June with Fives Futbol taking a full-sized portable blow up pitch ‘on tour’ around Cape Town. Starting off at Blue Route Mall (Tokai) with Promenade Mall (Mitchells Plain), Willow Bridge Mall (Bellville) and V&A Waterfront (Green Point) to follow. These activations will offer the opportunity to part-take in heart pumping, quick, 5-a-side games where the winner stays on, FIFA PlayStation tournaments, an opportunity to view highlights of the World Cup games that have been played to date and great prizes up for grabs.

"We hope that this sponsorship will give the youth an opportunity to get involved in the World Cup fever and to enjoy the brand activation experience. We would also like to give consumers the opportunity to view the games as well as participate by providing the World Cup tournament with FHD, UHD TVs and PlayStations for an extraordinary audio and visual football experience, " says Tony Shi, Marketing Director of Hisense South Africa.
