ELECTRIC ISLAND FESTIVAL – Guam’s Inaugural Electronic Music Festival is taking place this Summer July 27th, 2013 at The Beach Bar at Gun Beach presented by local Guam Production company Tropical Productions, Inc. and LA based Event Marketing Agency, 6AM Group.

With the growing popularity of Electronic Music in the U.S. and across the world, Guam’s demand for this music genre has increased dramatically over the past few years. Clubs and bars on Guam are now filled with DJs playing their favorite Electronic Music providing the energy and vibe that the party/club-goers on Island crave for. This specific music genre is widely accepted across the world providing an additional entertainment platform in the growing tourism industry on Guam catering to younger tourists looking for nightlife entertainment during their visit on Island. The Island is a central tourism hub for many of the surrounding Asia countries such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, and the Philippines.

The increased demand of Electronic Music on Guam is the result of many former residents being exposed to the fast growing scene while living in the U.S. mainland during their undergraduate college years. Festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnival, Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, and Burning Man have all reported current and former Guam residents in attendance. Many of them who return home for vacation often share their experiences with friends and peers raising curiosity and interest to those who have never attended those events.

Electric Island Festival will be the first major concert on Guam to have international DJs as headlining acts. The music genre caters to not only locals and tourists but also to the growing population of military personnel on Island. Electric Island Festival, which takes place right on the beach will also be the first concert on Guam that caters beyond the local market. Electronic Music concerts are known to bring people from all around the World together to celebrate life, love and unity amongst its people while providing a platform for future economic development - The goal of Electric Island Festival is no different.

Jia Wang – Founder of Electric Island Festival | Managing Partner of 6AM Group shared his enthusiasm by saying:

“I am very excited to announce the launch of Electric Island Festival, this is a major stepping stone for Guam’s music entertainment scene as we bring in a concept that is currently dominating the global concert industry. The timing has never been more fitting to finally bring this idea back home as Electronic Music have become widely accepted than ever before due to the increased exposure by mainstream music artists and major medias such as MTV, Rolling Stone, and NY Times. The local residents, visiting tourists, and military personnel will now be able to experience a full scale Electronic Music concert on the beautiful Island of Guam. Asides from introducing the music, production, and vibe; Electric Island Festival’s long-term objective is to positively impact Guam's economy by boosting local & tourist spending, attracting & retaining visitors, and positioning the Island to allow maximum global exposure as a premiere tropical destination in the Pacific-Asia region. Major Electronic Music Concerts in the U.S. and around the World have had proven track records of positively impacting their local economy. We plan to improve Electric Island Festival each year by bringing in bigger attractions and productions in hopes to sustain and grow our local economy from an entertainment standpoint. This is just the beginning of something truly special and we are pleased to receive such great amount of support and positive feedback from the people of Guam as well as our major sponsors."

Andrew Hong – Creative Director of Electric Island Festival | Managing Partner of 6AM Group went on to say:

“Our team has spent countless hours planning for this event and we’re excited to work closely with our partners from Tropical Productions in addition to all of our sponsors. We’re looking forward to all of the events running up to Electric Island Festival including club parties, promotional contests, and giveaways. Our team has attended hundreds of Electronic Music club and festival events around the world and we’re hoping that we can leverage our exposure to the global Electronic Music scene to bring an unforgettable event to Guam.”

Matt Sgro - Promotions Manager of Tropical Productions/Mid-Pac Distributors added:

“Guam has never had an Electronic Dance Festival of this magnitude. This event will help introduce, not only the music, but also the culture of electronic dance music events to Guam on an international level. Tropical Productions is always looking to bring new events and promotions to our local community. The first annual Electric Island Festival will help expand Guam’s knowledge of this musical genre.”
