The Montego Bay International Marlin Tournament would like to extend an invitation for you to attend a “MoBay Marlin Media Mixer” – hosted at @TwentyThree Bar, 23 Dominica Drive, New Kingston on Tuesday, Sept. 13th, at 6:00pm.
The event will allow the Media, Organisers, Registered Competitors and Team-mates, as well as the Sponsors, to mingle and talk about this year’s exciting staging.
A brief presentation and outline of the Tournament Week and related events, will also be given. Media Kits will be provided and will include a press statement for immediate release, as well as photography and video.
The 55th annual Montego Bay International Marlin Tournament, affectionately called “Mobay Marlin” has developed beyond just fishing to become a highly anticipated lifestyle event, and now includes a significant charitable beneficiary structure. The tournament week (September 20th – 24th) will include innovative events, including a Charity Awards and Comedy night on September 23rd, and a celebratory Beach Party on September 24th.
In addition there are many aspects of the rejuvenated tournament week which may appeal to various editorial interests, which will be covered at the media mingle, such as:
- Tournament received International recognition last year for adopting conservation rules
- Record attendance last year, and again this year, with almost 50 Team Boats
- Record catch rate last year, under new release rules – 16 Blue Marlin the first day
- Two associated events this year, designed for a charitable contribution – causes outlined
- Locally developed tournament “App” for anglers and participants – a first for Jamaica
- New website allows interested parties to follow the action real-time
- Creation of a sustainable event for an increase in off-season tourism
