Government today launched Lucky Grahak Yojana for Consumers and Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana for Merchants to promote digital transaction. The schemes are aimed at encouraging people to move towards significantly higher usage of digital transactions through the offer of incentives. It is also an attempt to curb corruption and the black money menace.

In the presence of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad the first Lucky Grahak Yojana draw was held and name of 15 thousand lucky winners were announced. Each of them will get one thousand rupees and the amount will be transmitted in their account. Similar draw of lots will be held over next 100 days.

Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley assured the country that with such initiatives India will have a better and cleaner economy in future. He said, it is in the interest of every country that it becomes less-cash economy. Mr Jaitley, however, said there will be some problems in the start but when money comes into banking system the economy becomes strengthened.

Speaking on the occasion, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also exhorted people to adopt and promote digital transactions for the country’s economic development. He said, the drive for digital payment will make India a stronger country. Mr Prasad said, government will soon make aadhar payment system more easier.

Our correspondent reports that the winners will be selected on a daily and weekly basis under the Lucky Grahak Yojana and weekly basis under the Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana, leading up to 14th of April next year, when the schemes will culminate with a mega draw. Only those transactions that take place through RuPay Cards, Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) are eligible for these schemes.
