Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa suffers cardiac arrest; being treated by team of experts in Hospital. President prays for her speedy recovery. Home Minister Rajnath Singh speaks to Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao, on the situation.

Doctors are closely closely monitoring Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s condition after she suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday evening in Chennai.

Apollo Hospital in a tweet has said that doctors are having a close watch on Jayalalithaa’s condition and trying their ‘very best’.

The AIADMK Chief has been in hospital since last three months for treatment of her prolonged lung infection.

According to a press release issued late last night from the hospital, she suffered a cardiac arrest and she was under critical treatment.

Apollo Hospital said she is on extracorporeal membrane heart assist device, being treated by expert doctors & Critical care specialists. The Hospital also said they are consulting the British Specialist doctor and he has concurred with the line of treatment.

The party members and her supporters have gathered outside the hospital and are praying hard for their leader’s recovery.

Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao reached the Apollo Hospital to enquire about CM’s health and met doctors monitoring her situation.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also spoke to Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao who flew back from Mumbai to reach Chennai.

TamilNadu School Education Minister K Pandiarajan has clarified that it won’t be a holiday on December 5th. Anna University has also clarified that exams will take place as scheduled. Earlier, there were some wrong reports in the media that Schools and Colleges will be closed on Monday.

Meanwhile, officers of State Police have been asked to be on full alert and report in the morning. People who visited restaurants in Greams road in the vicininity were asked by Police to vacate immediately.

Roads are getting cleared and as per the reports Paramilitary forces are also being put, on standby in case of any emergency.

Prayers for her speedy recovery are flowing from all quarters.

President Pranab Mukherjee in his tweet said ‘distressed to hear about CM Jayalalithaa suffering cardiac arrest, my prayers for her speedy recovery’.

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu also tweeted wishing a speedy recovery saying let her be healthy soon. M Venkaiah Naidu the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting said, “feeling bad to know about the critical condition of TN CM Jayalalithaa. Praying for her speedy recovery and quick response to treatment”.
