New Delhi : Lanco Infratech Limited (LITL), one of India’s largest integrated infrastructure developers, has announced that its unit, Lanco Amarkantak Power Limited, a coal based project near Pathadi Village in Chhattisgarh has bagged two awards for its occupational health, fire and safety practices.
Lanco Amarkantak was awarded the 12th Annual Greentech Safety Award in “Gold Category” for its excellence in ‘Fire and Safety Management’ for the year 2013. It also informed, in a separate event, that the Golden Peacock Occupational Health & Safety Award’ for the year 2013 has been bestowed upon them for its excellence in ‘Occupational Health and Safety Management’ for the year 2013.
The Greentech Safety Award was given to Mr. B N Panda, Sr. General Manager and Mr. K. Rajagopal, CEO of Lanco Amarkantak Power Limited by Mr. Kamleshwar Sharan, President of Greentech Foundation & Mr. Parmeshwar Naik, Hon’ble Labour Minister, Govt. of Karnataka.
Whereas, the Golden Peacockaward was given to Mr. K. Rajagopal, CEO and Mr. S. K. Bhardwaj, Sr. Dy. General Manager of Lanco Amarkantak Power Limited by Mr. Manish Tewari, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, in the presence of distinguished gathering of business leaders, jurists, academics, environmentalists, economists, legislators and policy makers during the 15th World Congress on Environment Management & 24th IOD Annual Day.Commenting on the occasion, Mr. K. Rajagopal, CEO, Lanco Amarkantak Power Limited said: “We are delighted that the work of our occupational health and safety management team has been recognized by a professional organization such as Institute of Directors. We at Lanco, believe in providing a safe workplace to our employees and the people we serve. This ensures that our employees are comfortable with our Occupational Health and Safety Management, and in turn, are more confident in what they do on a daily basis.”

These awards recognizes excellence, best practice and innovation in occupational health, fire and safety management of all the companies in the industry and services segments who demonstrate the highest level of commitment and best practices in controlling, reducing and mitigating incidents and accidents.
These awards are yet another feather on the cap bestowed by the Greentech Foundation and the Institute of Directors on Lanco’s power units. Greentech Foundation has previously conferred a Silver Award for the Lanco Amarkantak’s outstanding achievement in Safety Management in 2012.
