The Sailing Week 2014 committee is announcing the elevation of English Harbour 5 Year Old Rum to Diamond sponsorship for April 26 to May 2nd event.
Anthony Bento Managing Director of Antigua Distillery said his company was happy to sponsor Sailing Week as the event continues to be the major event that drives year round awareness of Antigua & Barbuda.
The announcement of English Harbour’s new sponsorship status comes weeks after Antigua Sailing Week Commercial Director Alison Sly-Adams said that the event continued to struggle to make a profit after 46 years of operation.
English Harbour 5 Year Old Rum will also be supporting an international concert at Shirley Heights Lookout during Sailing Week to be headlined by Shaggy and Tian Winter.
Antigua Distillery Caribbean Sales Manager Calbert Francis said they wanted an act that would appeal to the broad cross section of visitors, and that Shaggy “fits the bill.”
