This race will need 2000+ volunteers. Sign up now! The Race Director of the B.A.A Boston Marathon is coming to Maryland to help us create an unbelievable event for our communities and great charity partners! If you want to be involved in the most exciting event around, you don’t have to be a runner to share in the excitement. We need a lot of volunteers to help with a wide range of activities ranging from packet pick-up for runners, taking team photos for our runner groups, hosting VIPs from around the world, manning our water station on the Bridge, setting up signs and banners on the Bridge before the race, serving finish line food to our hungry runners and so much more! Alzheimer’s Foundation

The Alzheimer’s Association is a nonprofit organization which seeks to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through advancement of research, to enhance care and support for individuals, their families and caregivers, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. A variety of Volunteer Opportunities  are available throughout the year including: office & clerical assistance including data entry and mailings, community outreach representatives including those to attend Health Fairs and speakers, helpline specialist, and family support group facilitators. Volunteers are also needed to assist with fundraising events:

9:00 am, Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, Walk to End Alzheimer’s: Friendly, outgoing volunteers, age 15 and up, are needed for a variety of positions before, during and after the walk which is being held at Susan B. Campbell Park (at the dock downtown) in Annapolis, MD. Registration starts at 9 am, ceremony is at 10 am, and the walk starts at 10:30 am. Volunteer opportunities will include route guides, registration, advocacy ambassadors, cheerleaders, set-up and break down teams, parking guides, and more. Anne Arundel Department of Social Services

The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services’ Holiday Sharing program matches donors to seniors and/or families in need of Thanksgiving & Christmas assistance.  Volunteers are needed at the Annapolis location to enter families’ wish lists and to answer and make phone calls October through December 2014. Anne Arundel County CASA

CASA needs volunteers for both Court Appointed Special Advocates and Friends of CASA. Each Special Advocate is screened and trained to make a difference in the life of an abused or neglected child. Extensive trainings are scheduled after potential volunteers are interviewed and screened. Friends of CASA are volunteers who assist with fund-raisers, or donate other talents and resources. Chesapeake Ecology Center

The Chesapeake Ecology Center (CEC) works with its members, volunteers, community groups, and students, including at-risk students at Adams Academy at Adams Park (where it is based), to provide environmental education and, at the same time, develop on-the-ground habitat restoration/protection projects. The CEC holds volunteer education/planting days and tours mid-April through November, and provides technical assistance to a variety of community and school groups for their projects. In addition to numerous on-the-ground restoration projects at the CEC and elsewhere, it promotes conservation landscaping through a variety of media, and through presentations and tours of the CEC’s 24 Native Plant Demonstration Gardens and Sites. Volunteers are needed to help with planting and maintenance. An adult should accompany volunteers under age 16. 10 a.m. – Noon, Saturday, October 18, 2014, Master Gardener Volunteer Celebration and Dedication of the Master Gardener Shade Garden: Join the Center as it celebrates the outstanding, tremendous participation of Master Gardener volunteers for more than 10 years! All are invited! We’ll start the morning with a fall Garden Tour and answer native plant and conservation landscaping questions. Events at the CEC will be held if there’s light rain, and canceled if there’s moderate to heavy rain. Volunteer Saturdays are suitable for adults, families, and community groups. Life Renewed Corporation

Life Renewed Corp. supports foster parents in Maryland by providing free emergency clothing and furniture for their new foster children when they first come into their homes. Volunteers are needed to help in the Thrift Store located at 12 Mayo Road, in Edgewater. Volunteers would help organize, label, and price clothes. U.S. Elite International Track & Field

U.S. Elite’s mission is to provide an avenue for young athletes to develop in track and field, so that they can have the opportunity to maximize their potential by sharing their gifts and talents in a sport that requires discipline, commitment sportsmanship, and an honest effort and to receive a debt-free education, while experiencing practical learning and academic enrichment in the global community to prepare them for the real world. There is a current need for professional volunteers to serve in the following positions: Board of Directors, lawyer, fundraiser, track coach, executive assistant, health and wellness coordinator, and grant writer.
