Nice to have a team on board to help the growth of our communities. Our community is growing with Systers, GHC and now new community, ABI.Local. But we welcome all of our new team members and look for more information from each of the community soon.
Maybellin Burgos comes to us via Systers and Latinas in Computing. She is our Technical Community Evangelist managing our FOSS projects which includes Google Summer of Code, Google Code In, GHC Open Source Day. Additionally, she manages our community presence at technical conferences such as F8 and Google I/O. A recent graduate of University of North Carolina, Charlotte, she holds a BS degree in Japanese studies and Computer Science. Maybellin is also working on really cool project that will engage our global community in technical projects on a larger scale so stay tuned.
Neal Brown is our Program manager for our newest community, ABI.Local. She joins ABI with years experience in the marketing event industry and non-profit. Neal is a no stranger to working in this space as she comes to us from Women Who Code and from Ignition in Atlanta. Knowing Neal and her work in #womenintech space, she is a great addition to the community team. Neal holds a BS degree in Mass Communications from University of North Carolina, Asheville and spent summer abroad program at University of Ghana. She’s launched new ABI.Local cities this year and planning for more in the coming months.
Haila Asanaenyi is ABI Communities Program manager. Her role is 80% dedicated to ABI.Local and 20% dedicated to Systers. She will be focused on Systers Pass-It-On (PIO), Best of Systers, Anita’s Quilt and helping support our Systers Advisory Council. Haila is an entrepreneur and avid volunteer in her hometown Houston, Texas. She is a past ABI.Houston community leader and (PIO) award winner and now she’s “passing it on” through her work and support of ABI communities. Haila holds a B.S. in Media Studies from Dartmouth College.
Julia Proft is a recent graduate of Connecticut College and will be pursuing her Ph.D. in Computer Science at Cornell University Fall 2016. She is community infrastructure intern managing our Systers servers (Mailman and GSoC projects) and provides support for any Systers issues on the back end. Julia has been with ABI since 2014, was a Syster GSoC student, then mentor for our FOSS projects. Her contributions have been critical to our growth and working with ABI IT department to manage our infrastructure. Julia is also our Associate-Keeper for Systers.
Chinaemere Ike is a Computer Science student at Texas A&M University. She is a GHC community intern with focus on GHC community and volunteer support. Chinaemere brings various experience to the team by her volunteer roles at Youth for National Change for state of Texas and Black Women in Computing gaming workshops. You will see Chinaemere at GHC at many of our community events and supporting the GHC community committee and many onsite volunteers. She is a Syster and Black Women in Computing member and active in our community.
Andrea Delgado-Olson is founder of Native American Women in Computing. She was inspired by the support of being a member of Systers and wanted to ensure Native American women was supported through similar network. Andrea is a Computer Science graduate student at Mills College in Oakland, California. She’s worked with Udacity and Google to create an Android program course based on building an app to help retain her Native American language of the Miwok. Andrea manages GHC community support remote committee, volunteers as well as onsite at GHC.
