Hi friends! Have you SEEN the new obsession spreading across Instagram this past week? Ok, maybe you haven’t – maybe you’re not on Instagram 24-7 like I am, but if you aren’t – then THIS POST is for you! Because there is a new app in town that you MUST buy – the Waterlogue App! And as you may have guessed by my opening image of our Succulent Valentines – this fabulous app will turn your photos into watercolor paintings! IT IS GENIUS. I don’t know how the makers of Waterlogue did it – but they have put together one amazing app in a $2.99 package (a steal, if you ask me). Now I can turn any photo, iPhone to DSLR, into a gorgeous watercolor work of art with just a few clicks on my phone!

So how can you join in the obsession? If you have an iPhone (sorry Android users!), simply download the Waterlogue App from iTunes. Once it’s downloaded, open an image from your iPhone and apply one of 12 pre-set styles to customize your watercolors by controlling wetness, pen outlines and color. The app also allows you to adjust borders, lightness, and detail. I also LOVE that you can also export the image at high resolution – just think – you could make posters and canvas images with your new watercolor paintings!

So I’ve been playing with the app, each and every day since I’ve downloaded. And I’m making a collection of images that I plan to have printed! Want to see a few of the fun before and afters? I started with our most recent Valentine’s Day projects since I knew they would be SO pretty as watercolor paintings!

First up is our Chalkboard Conversation Hearts. I used the “It’s Technical” filter to bring out the words on the chalkboard and the outlines of my son’s hands. So cute!

Next up, of course my FAVORITE Valentine’s Day project to date – our Flying Paper Airplane Valentines. For the first update, I used the Natural filter and loved the result…such a pretty picture! I could see that on a Valentine’s Day postcard, couldn’t you?

I also had to transform a picture of my son with the flying valentines, this time using the Bold app for its rich, vibrant colors!

How precious is that?! It looks like I commissioned someone to paint a picture of my baby boy. You’d BETTER believe I will be printing this one out. Now all of those Valentine’s photos were pictures taken on a DSLR by my favorite Phoenix photographer – Stacey of Dream Photography Studio. BUT I think part of the genius of Waterlogue is it can transform ordinary, blurry phone photos into works of art! Take this GORGEOUS sunset I captured the other night. I didn’t post it on Instagram because it was just a little too blurry for my taste. BUT I love how it turned out with just a touch of Waterlogue…

Or just this snap I took of a tree and the sky the other day. I thought it was beautifully simple on its own, but now…

Ok, I know, I know – I’ll stop sharing the ENDLESS pictures I’ve transformed into watercolor paintings with Waterlogue! BUT I must say – this app is a MUST HAVE. I know that $2.99 might be more than you’d typically pay for an app. But I think it’s well worth it. And I have a ton of apps. And already I’ve used this MANY times more than most of them combined. Just saying. Give it a try – turn your photos into watercolor paintings with the Waterlogue App today!
