Hey guys, one of the AAGU mods here!
I’m working on a school project right now, and I’m having to do lots of research for it but I feel like my research won’t be enough, so I though I’d let you guys pitch in as well. I’m not forcing you to help me, it’s 100% voluntarily. Here’s a short description of what my project is going to be about: I’m going to create a short movie that will showcase how the history books we all have to read and learn from (in e.g. school) are very western-centric and whitewashed.
So far I’ve only covered a small portion of how Christopher Columbus is glorified and that’s about how far I’ve gotten.. :-( Research takes a lot of time, and having to research + create a story board and make the movie itself is a lot of work in the short amount of time that I’ve got. Having a deadline sucks because it limits my work. It would be a great help if you guys could pitch in what you know has been whitewashed or fully left out of history. Or even the stories that we only get to hear a part of (e.g. excluding the part where white people have been the assholes that they are).
The stories can range from stealing other people’s cultures to massacres of PoC that are never told of in our books.
