After yet another bye week, the LA Galaxy will be back in MLS action on Saturday evening when they travel to Colorado to take on the Rapids. With less games played than anyone else in the league, the Galaxy currently stands in 6th place in the Western Conference, only three points behind the Rapids.

Almost two months into the season, the Galaxy has only played five league games. In those five games, LA has only faced three different opponents, those being Real Salt Lake, Chivas USA, and Vancouver. Following the defeat on their home opener, the Galaxy has gone unbeaten since. Much of the success the Galaxy has had in the past few games is the roles Stefan Ishizaki and Robbie Keane have taken in said matches. Ishizaki is one of the assist leaders on the team, but has been adding himself to the score sheets as well. With two goals under his name, Ishizaki is the second leading goal-scorer on the squad behind Robbie Keane, who has four. Following the home opener, in which the Galaxy was shut-out for the only time this season, Keane has scored in every game.

After starting the season on a three-game unbeaten run, the Rapids have lost some steam. Colorado is currently on a two-game winless streak, their last game being a 4-1 defeat to the Seattle Sounders. Like the Galaxy, the Rapids have only been shutout once this season, that game taking place for Colorado a couple of weeks ago against San Jose. Vicente Sanchez matches the four goals Keane has so far this season, leading the way offensively for Colorado.

With some catching up to do, the Galaxy can continue taking steps towards the top of the Western Conference with a win over the Rapids. Last week, LA gave up the lead twice in Vancouver to start off the series of away games with a draw. The Galaxy has three road games left before having another game at home, and on Saturday they’ll be looking for their first victory away from StubHub Center.
