We’re thrilled to introduce the newest exhibit to hit the Public House walls, Sunrise/Sunset: Photographs of the Arts District. The gallery will showcase 20 large-scale photographs from our friend and neighbor, Melissa Richardson Banks, better known locally as the Downtown Muse.

Melissa’s photos highlight the unexpected everyday beauty that can be found in LA’s Arts District. As a resident of the area for 20 years, she has made it her mission to capture the ever-changing landscape, environment, and people of the neighborhood. Instead of setting out each day with the intent to photograph, she allows the city to inspire her work. She’s recently published her first book, “MUSE-ings: Snapshots of the Arts District, Downtown Los Angeles,” a hardcover collection featuring an insider’s view on Downtown Los Angeles. Many of the photographs from her book will also be on display.

The exhibit opening will be Thursday, April 10th from 6:00pm until 10:00pm. Join us for a fun night of great food, live music and of course beautiful photography that celebrates the neighborhood we call home. Can’t make it to the opening? Don’t worry, the exhibit will be up through May 8th. In the meantime, check out Downtown Muse online, and on Facebook and Instagram.
